It is possible, but it will take several years to get a blooming plant. And, if your parent Clematis is a hybrid, the "kids" will not look like it.

If your goal is just propagation, layering is a much easier way to go.

Thank you. The location of my clematis doesn't lend itself to proper propogation. Though I may try to root a section in a pot that I can prop up on a plant stand.

I may collect some of my seed heads and try my hand growing from seed.
