Clematis and Daffodils

For those who are familiar with bulbs - if I were to plant daffodils at the base of my clematis, and as you know they will multiply dearly in time, will they choke out my clematis? I have my clems planted in a small space between my fence and my driveway, so there is only a matter of maybe 5 inches maximum between fence and driveway.

Should I find another spot to plant my daffodil bulbs?

Daffodils like it dry during the summer when they are dormant. Clematis like lots of water when they are actively growing during the summer. I think your daffodils may rot, but I don't think they would choke your clematis out.

Thanks Flowerfan. I think I found a new spot for my daffodils, but now I have another question that I will start on a new thread.
