My clematis's appearance is tan all over and

18 years ago

looks like it has been overwatered, that look....... The variety is "Sweet Autumn" and it should be green now with buds perhaps; it may be premature for buds, but I know this time last year it looked fine with good growth. In my opinion, it isn't clematis wilt. I have a few others with those symptoms. What do you think I can do about this situation?

bought a Josephine that was a Donahue's, and I pinched it back and she has put out a lot of new leaves. Should I pinch back again? I know roots are what I want her to concentrate on. I have not planted her in the ground. I'm in Central Alabama, zone 7b or 8 depending on the chart. I'm counting on you gurus to guide me on this.

Further, this plant looks like it is dying but a small sprout on the bottom is the only thing which is green now. Can anyone help me with this solution. Should I just wait it out or what else can be done?
