Tracy, glad you liked them. Got them from Ellen Horning at Seneca Hills Perennials. She has some of the more unusual ones even though she does not sell clematis exclusively.

I visited Seneca Hills and really enjoyed what I found there. Excellent collection of perennials. I bookmarked them and will going back in August. Can't wait.

Ellen Horning of Seneca Hills Perennials is a really nice person. We have conversed several times as we exchange plants and seeds and she is always charming and gracious. I would love to visit her nursery but doubt I will make it anytime soon.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I had been there physically. I only did the virtual visit to her website. I think I would love to make the trip in person. She sounds very lovely. What an amazing collection of plants. How does she manage to track down all of those varieties?

Tracy, your message was clear and I knew you meant you had visited via the web. I however would like to physically visit her nursery just like you. Just this morning I conversed with Ellen via email. She is in Hawaii right now on vacation and I am sure she is enjoying herself. She gets a lot of seed from various sources including Gardens North out of Canada and from various individuals who send her seeds. I have been one of those people in the past as has another gardener that posts here periodically on the clematis forum. She is always on the look out for seed from various plants that might be old varieties or ones that have fallen out of favor with the big propagators of plants. Keep that in mind if you or anyone else reading this post has any unusual and hard to find plants that can be reliably propagated!
