Looks like Clematis terniflora (Sweet Autumn Clematis) but the leaves aren't right and it is blooming awfully early. Was there a fragrance?

Looks like my 'Recta'. Flowers are like sweet autumn but sadly mine has no fragrance. It is just finishing its bloom.

I had thought it was a 'Summer Snow' AKA 'Paul Farges'...what do you think?

Was it a huge vine? Then it could be Paul Farges. If is was only about 5-6 feet tall, non-climbing and scented, then it could be recta.

For only 3 years old it was quite large and was climbing horizontally a good distance. I am now reasonably sure it is a Paul Farges. Id love to get one but I may have to wait till next year :(.

I was assuming it was a "Vitalba" and "Paul Farges" fits the bill..it's stunning..does yours have a scent...Jeanne

Thanks Jeanne and I *wish* it was mine but it isnt :(. I saw it on a tour of gardens a couple of weeks back.

After much searching I was able to find a nursery (albeit an hour away by car) which still has supply of "Summer Snow". I bout *3* ;( to give some insurance as I dont have any available location that is perfect in terms of space and sunlight conditions. I have my fingers crossed.
