I do not think this would be successful. If it was, there would be trades going on all the time and there aren't.

I've done it with roses and don't know why it wouldn't work with clematis. How about this: take, say, 5 or 6 cuttings (to make it worth it), with one or two nodes (I usually root mine with only one), let them sit in water for a couple of hours; wrap moist/wet cotton around stem ends and fasten with a little tape; put these in a quart-size (?) sealed plastic bag (with air mostly squeezed out); put in appropriate-sized cushioned mailer between two pieces of cardboard, perhaps with some spongy material around all of it; and SEND.

Worth a try, no?
