Can I prune/cut back Bonanza for more bloom?

Hi Clematis gurus,

I have a Bonanza (she's two years old) and I'm wondering if it's ok to deadhead her or cut her back for more blooms this season. I saw the FAQ recommend deadheading, but is cutting her back during summer growth ok for a young clematis? Thanks in advance for your help,
