well, I think you should add the blaze rose and the 4 new clems. the new clems should be from the more agressive viticella group, say 'Etoile Violette' for deep rich color and 'Blekitny Aniol' plus 'Emilia Plater' for contrast.
I added a couple scarlet Lonicera Honey Suckle vines to wonder through my clems this year.

I think the SAC will choke out the others and that honeysuckle might too. They are both much more aggressive growers than the most aggressive viticella.

I agree with BorS :-) I suggest folks exercise caution when combining clematis with other vines or even when mixing different types of clematis. Match growth habits and pruning requirements carefully. SAC is far too vigorous a vine to play well with others and so is any honeysuckle I've ever grown. They will both easily overwhelm smaller, less aggressive vines.

Yes, buyorsell and gardengal, I can see that happening in Zone 8. My mistake, I forgot that clems companion differently outside my little Zone 5 back yard.
But the Lonicera Honey Suckle are native to the U.S. and should not be compared to the aggressive foreign variety.
I've never limited myself to pruning requirements when selecting clems as companions- makes things complicated.

I'll have to post some pics when my Lonicera and Clems put on a better show next year. Right now Lonicera is just giving me a little scarlet color through my clem vines.

I have lonicera combined with tangutica, and it's working pretty well (I'm also zone 5). I need to protect my honeysuckle this winter, though - rabbits have mowed it down the past two winters (this is its third year), but it works its way up about 12' or so every year. Still have yet to get any blooms from it.
