Mellikat, sorry but I can't identify the clematis from the picture provided. Do you have one of an individual flower closer up? That might provide some additional info not available with your current picture.

Sorry, this picture was off my cell phone. I will try to get another, but only one bud has bloomed and it has been raining heavily. The flowers are very white with fairly smooth petals. The centers are cream.

I hope that someone can identify it, I would like to get one of these myself, it's very pretty! I love white clematis but don't have any myself, yet.

If you can't upload another picture that shows the plant up close, go to the link below and enter white for the tepal color and under the group, choose "Early large flowered". Hit enter and a list will come up of possible identities of your clematis. Any with a + by the name also includes a picture. The color of your anthers and filaments, as well as the overall shape of the tepals will help guide you in determining which white clematis you have.

I had you choose Early, large flowered based on the overall look of your clematis and the fact that you are in Michigan and you say it blooms in early spring for you.

I think I have some sort of Henryi. I could be wrong but it sounds so familiar.

Henryi has brown or purple anthers. Yours looks to have cream or yellow colored anthers from what I can tell from your picture.

If it was labeled Henryi then someone made a mistake. It isn't Henryi. The darker anthers are visible from a long distance, I can see them clear across the yard.

okay....then I have no idea. :) I guess I will have to wait until next spring to get a better pic. (The newest blooms have already fallen apart, sigh) Thanks for everyone's help
