Rosethyme, I went nursery browsing by the internet and saw it on Dan's site last night. Alas, it is a type II! Not my favorite group of clematis!

I know, I've been trying to stick with type 3's but this one just caught my eye.

I meant to ask you, is there another Clematis that looks similar in color to Wisely? I saw a photo of Perrin's Pride and it did look similar. However, it's very hard to tell from photos. Would appreciate your opinion, Nckvilledude.

Rosethyme, Perrins Pride is nowhere near the color of Wisely in my garden. Wisely is a blue and PP is a reddish purple. Are you sure you aren't thinking of another clematis? Linked to two different sites because I can't find a good picture of my actual plant in bloom.

Perrin's is pretty though...the Brushwood pic is gorgeous. Do you grow it since it is a group 3?

Rosethyme, yes I do grow it and got it from Dan at Brushwood.

Perle d'Azur is the standard bluish colored clematis. I have one and like it. It is one that according to info takes a bit longer to get established and it did seem so to me in my garden.

Oh, beautiful photo, Nckvilledudes! I bought Prince Charles as they say it is almost identical but less difficult to get established than Perle d'Azur.
Not sure if I should get Perrin's Pride. Also considering Pink Fantasy but wonder if it is very similar to my Marmori. I have accumulated so many that I'm trying to only get those that are different from what I already have...and stand out from the crowd. Lol, this addiction is up to about 50 Clematis, I think. How many do you have?

Somewhere around 115 with too many set to arrive late this September. However, if the weather around here doesn't break and we get some rain relief soon, I am not sure how many I might lose that I already have. Five weeks with 1 one hour long rain shower and at the same time with temps from 90 to 100+ are not factors that are helping things. The driest and hottest August on record for NC this year. We are almost 10 inches down on the rainfall we should have had this year.

Wow, 115 Clematis! Lol, Nckvilledudes, I am so jealous. I guess clematis are like roses. I said years ago that I would stop at 75 OGR's....now have around 250.

Hope you get some rain soon. This has been the strangest season for Texas...a record breaking amount of rain instead of drought.

Miguel...I had plenty of rain hon..just had about 3 weeks in August without much...had delicious rain storm yesterday and I live north of Houston in Willis Texas...Jeanne

Nope, not a drop Jeanne. That tropical disturbance is only going to affect the coastal areas. Nothing for us here in the middle to western part of the state! :(

Oh Bummer!!

Big time bummer Jeanne. Just will have to wait and see what happens. Although I use soaker hoses and drip irrigation systems, the clematis are still for the most part not happy campers. I wouldn't be either though if I had had to exist outside for so long with next to nothing rain and unrelenting heat!

Even with my rain..I have several that look like cripsy critters and are now putting out new leaves...I hope people know that even tho the leaves are brown..the vine is still viable and will put out new leaves when the weather cools and more rain!!..Mine are perking back up...late August was brutally hot and dry this year....Jeanne
