I like it. I don't have it. I have not found any white integrifolias here. The idea of fragrance really appeals. Perhaps I'll have to break down and mail order. The hunt for local Clems is fun though....

This is the first year that Hakuree has done this in the garden and what is so surprising is that the all white and green and white blooms are both on the plant simultaneously. Don't know if it is the weather or what that is causing it but I really like it. This plant came from Chalk Hill several years ago and has always delighted me with the scent. It is however scent detectable only up close. If heat is the stimulant for the green sepals, then the plant should make more as the next week or so they are forecasting temps in the mid to upper 90s. Ouch, that water bill is going to be so high I don't want to see it!!

Beautiful bloom! I love the green and white! Quite amazing. Thank you for posting it. I can commiserate on the water issues! We have a well instead of city water. I ran the sprinkler today and the washing machine, dimultaneaously. The pump quit on me due to low water in the well. I will have to closely monitor my watering from this point on. I am fearful that our well is running dry. Normally I water the plants individually with the hose to minimize usage but was short on time today. Won't be doing the sprinkler again anytime soon.

Sorry to hear about your water woes Tracy. Hopefully Mother Nature will start kicking in and doing her part. For the life of me I can't figure out how it can be so hot and humid and we still don't get thunderstorms. Last night, finally, it rained an inch in an hour via a freaky isolated thunderstorm. Of course, I ran the drip irrigation systems, soaker hoses, and hand watered some plants yesterday before leaving for work and then it rains! Isn't that the way it normally happens though?

Summer time here is typically like this--it gets very hot and dry and it typically takes the remnants of some tropical storm or hurricane to get us out of the rain deficit.

That is exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago! LOL! I watered by hand all the gardens. Spot after spot, careful to not waste a drop, then 2 hours later we have thunderstorm warnings galore and it rained cats and dogs for the next two days! No one saw it coming, especially not any of the weathermen on the news! I was very happy to see it but it has been extremely dry before that and ever since. The other concern is that we have been having extremely dry windy days which are also very unusual for my part of the world. This is drying out my soil way too fast. 20 years ago we would have a good thunderstorm 2-3 times a week. Short bursts and then nice weather again. The weather now is extremely different than what we used to have. Things are changing. I wonder if I will be living on a tundra in another 15 years.

I wonder the same thing Tracy. We too used to have thunderstorms consistently that did most of the watering for us. Now it seems to be either feast or famine.

Happily we are experiencing a nice steady rain as I type! I am most thankful!

Dance away Tracy. I can't wait. I am adding to one of my existing drip irrigation systems today so that I have to do less hand watering, but I much prefer natural rainfall instead of city water. I really think the chlorine in it affects the plants.

I don't think you live that far from me. If you come out one morning and there is a hole in the ground where that clematis once was.....I love it. I want it. :-). The lack of rain and the HEAT are horrible. I've about had it with this drought and heat. Our water bill is approaching the same amount as our mortgage payment (that is a slight exaggeration)

I know what you mean Carol. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We had two years of similar conditions the first two years we were in this house in 98-99 and 99-20. Then I didn't have all the clematis I now have but I was still trying to get my foundation plantings established and I used soaker hoses. Since then we had one summer where it rained a fair amount and I didn't even have to water anything until sometime in August. I remember people moaning about the rain but that was the best summer ever as far as I am concerned. I get so sick of hearing the weather forecasters (guessers in my book) say that we are going to have a great weekend with sun and no chance of rain that I could scream!!!!!!!!!

I don't even want to see my next water bill--and I don't even water the grass and the other plants. The grass looks like it has been blow torched. Talk about a scorched earth policy. :(

I think it may have finished raining here today, I am pushing it your way! LOL! Carol, I busted up! Nckvilledudes you better get a watch dog! I believe you are right about the chlorine. They add many other chemicals as well.

I am careful not to use pesticides or chemical fertilizers here because of the well water supplying the family as well as the plants. We have a high algae content but use a double filtering system on the water lines. We used to have a salt based water softener but stopped using that as it really didn't soften the water all that much and it is bad for the plants.
