No, it will eventually have a more mature root system and outgrow this problem. I too have been dealing with wilt on some of my younger ones and they will improve. Just cut back the affected vines.

I received several new clems this year in 2.5 inch pots. I repotted them in one gallon containers to allow them to grow out their roots while pinching off new growth as it develops. Pinching back new growth will help with the vascular issue you are dealing with on your planted ones as well.

Clems are a wonderful plant that really show themselves after they mature. Wait until your third year with them and you will be rewarded with a beautiful plant and abundant blooms.
