I bought 2 Clematis from Lowes this spring, and alas, tossed the tags (usually so good about keeping them! gr!). I have one out by my mailbox that hasn't bloomed, so I'm just going to leave that one and see what happens next year. It's supposed to be white is all I remember.

I have another by my deck that has grown quite nicely. It even extended up onto the deck after I strung up some fishing twine. It finally bloomed about 2 weeks ago with a small, maybe 3-4in purple bloom. Just one! Of course I didn't take a picture of it. I'm trying to figure out how to prune it. If it isn't the kind that I can cut down every year, I may need to move it so it can have a better spot to spread out (will they happily trail without a trellis?). In looking at pics, it really looks like the Barbara Jackman - but that seems odd since it very obviously bloomed on new wood, not on anything hardened from the previous season (as it was a new plant and there was no prev season). Even this name sounds familiar to me, so it may have been mistlabeled in the first place.

Tips on what kind/pruning group it might be, and what I should do with it if I can't figure it out?
