Lovefornature, I would recommend a type III clematis for your zone since the clematis care will be relatively simple. You keep it watered, fertilized, and whack it back each year in the winter/early spring.

As to your height requirements, that is more of a dilema since each clematis will get to a different height based on a myriad of factors. You also don't say if you want a clematis that climbs on its own or one that will sprawl or can be trained/tied up onto a structure. If the later is okay, then I would suggest Petit Faucon since it is a troublefree integrifolia hybrid which blooms almost all summer for me here in NC. There are a variety of other similar integrifolias which might also fill the bill but again in general they don't climb by themselves. Others would include Alionushka, Arabella, Roguchi, Pamiat Serdtsa, Aromatica, Zoin, Rose Colored Glasses, Jan Fopma, Hendryetta, Juuli, etc.

For a typical clinging shorter clematis that would fit your bill you might want to try Piilu or Proteus (both type IIs), Konigskind or its pink version Konigskind Rosea, fusca, ianthina, or one of the Patio collection clematis (although some on this forum have had issues with wilt on these clematis).

Type 3 sounds perfect for me. Yes, I did want a climber because I have a nice trellis it could climb on, sorry I forgot to mention that. A climber would be much easier too than one you have to train & tie.
