Most clematis will produce some flowers the first year. It takes 3-5 years to mature to produce a lot of blooms. If the clematis has a lot of root competion from the trees and only indirect light, I don't think it will do well in that spot. Jackmanii usually like at least 4-6 hours of sun to bloom well. Use might consider growing a different vine that will take lower light and dryer conditions.
