Definitely a clematis but trying to ID it from the pictures is going to be difficult. Does it bloom on old wood or new wood? Do you tend to prune it back each year and if so when does it bloom? There are tons of purpley colored clematis so trying to ID it specifically might be difficult. If we could narrow it down to either a type II (blooms on older wood earlier in the season) vs. a type III (blooms on new wood later in the season) it might help the ID process.

It blooms on new wood later in the season. The photos I took were just from the other day, and the season is nearly over.

I have never pruned this vine.. it just sort of grew up into a pile of bricks I had had next to my door for what seems like forever. I keep meaning to do something with it, but I never seem to get around to it. Im sorry!! :)
