I am growing seedlings of this species and they were quite simple to start.
In a small ziplock put about 1/3 cup vermiculite. Add 30 mls of boiling water and let sit till cool. The boiling water absorbs better. Stir your seed in to the vermiculite - keep count and probably not more than 10. Seal the bag! Place in a warm place - temp at around 68 to 72 F.Keep and eye on the baggy (I like to set them so the opening end stand up then there is a little air space above the vermiculite. They will make green leaves and a long root as they germinate and will need to be transplanted to a small pot when the first leaves are well out. Use a good mix that drains well but still holds moisture. I use Sunshine #4 mix for almost everything but you might like a seedling mix from these same people or whomever you have there. Look for a longish root and if they seem short wait a week. The baggy needs to be opened once a week to check for germinations and to let in fresh air. Be sure to add a drop or 2 of water (or more)from time to time to keep the vermiculite from drying out. If no germinations after 30 days place in the fridge for 30 days (keep checking as they will germinate) and then set back in the warm. Good luck. I have about 10 or so seedlings and not sure what I will do for winter as we are near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and winter is -35 C or -31 F!!!!
