More on mildew

Well, today I finally got the last of my clems planted... and discovered the first problem. My Peveril Pristine has got powdery mildew. I only planted it last week, and cut it back when I did so. Previous postings on mildew have recommended trimming way back and then spraying the new growth -- so should I whack this little clem all the way to the ground, so no growth shows?
