I have a similar question regarding wintering potted clematis. Mine are in 5 gal nursery pots. My situation is I am mooving to a new property and the planting areas are not prepared. I am afraid if I were to sink them into the ground the pots would drain but the holes would not. What are my other options. Would a covered hoop house be ok? If so how much water nuring the winter. I am mooving to zone 7 Pacific North West from zone 8 PNW. Thank you for your help.
