Interfolis question
I put an interfolis clematis to cascade over the edge of a wall of a raised bed last fall. It bloomed this summer and did ok.
I put a pile of mushroom soil around the clematis about two weeks ago. Some of the plant has died back but I do have new growth coming. The base of the plant is in the sun and the soil is warm.
Will this cause a problem? I know clematis like their roots cool but I don't know if this situation will cause a problem for the Interfolis.
If I need to shade the plant's roots, how can I do it being on the edge of the wall?
Or is it going to be ok since I have new growth coming even though the soil around the roots feels warm?
Off Subject: Last year I asked for advice from you all for clematis to plant at a City Building.

These were as close to what I wanted because what was available at the time.
Some of the garden club members rused me about what I paid for them. I told them it was worth the price so they would do well. It was great when they bloomed this spring.
