Wierd looking Dr. Ruppel (pic)

Hi all,

The really strange thing happened to my Dr.Ruppel. It bloomed for me this summer, than its leaves turned brown. I thought that I burned it with fertilizer and replanted it with fresh soil. I cut it down almost to the ground since it had no healthy foliage at that time.

Now take a look at it 6 weeks later. It seems that this plant can not decide what to do with its new growth: whether to make flower or leaves out of it.

What is it? Is it a virus? All my other potted clems are doing OK. Do I have to do something about it?

Alina..there is nothing wrong with your Clematis...I have had that happen before and it usually happens when there is a drastic change in the temperature and weather...

I appreciate your help so much. This is my first year growing clematis and I ended up with more than 30 potted clemmies (talking about addiction!). Only Dr.Ruppel did this. I worried because I heard that broken color on tulip, daylilies and other plants' flowers could mean virus infection.
