Prayer request

We just found out that my mother in law has fallen again going to the restroom! She's in the hospital with a broken shoulder and elbow.

This is her third bad fall in about 4 years, but she's had several that only bruised her. We just cannot convince her to slow down and be careful. She just got a new walker too, I hope it didn't trip her up.

Kylie, we're going to need a rain check in case you decide to brave the weather, we're heading over to the hospital in a few minutes.

Pam, take special care when driving to the hospital especially if the weather is bad. Lots of times it isn't us, but other drivers that aren't careful. Praying your MIL will soon be up and around. Bless her for being active :-)

Oh no. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she recovers quickly. Have they loked into why she's had so many falls? Be careful on the road.

Pam I am sorry. Will pray for her to heal quickly and that angels watch over her steps.

My mom had that so much and could not get up by herself...her legs just gave in and she had no feelings she said.

Thanks for all of your support and prayers.

They are looking deeper into the root cause of the dizziness. She's had several transient ischemic attacks over the past 10 or so years and takes Coumadin, which of course delays the surgery for her elbow because it's a powerful blood thinner. I personally think that she's having more of those, but the doctors are withholding comment until the tests are in.They have her on something called Special K to counteract the effect of the Coumadin. All of the tendons in her elbow are torn, so it will be repaired with lovely screws and rods. She has a rod and screws in her hip from the first fall that put her in the hospital 3 and a half years ago for 4 months. This injury bruised her shoulder (no break) and caused a compression fracture in her L1 vertebrae, in addition to the elbow damage. She did have a serious brain bleed and concussion in January of this year (the last fall) and the dizziness has been getting worse since that incident. She has the worst time with getting up in the night to go to the restroom.

What do you do, forbid them getting out of bed to prevent injury? I really wish that I could find an inflatable suit to keep her safe! I'm just ranting, but she's spent more of this year in a hospital or rehab than at home. If it's discouraging to me, how must she feel?

The weather dried up and got well above freezing, that's the way we get weather here, snow doesn't stick around for very long. At least the drive was not scary.

    Thanks again y'all,
    Pam

    dear Pam-
After hearing about your Mother in law, I am reliving what my Mom endured, my heart goes out to you & her..... I am praying that the Doctors will have the wisdom to deal with whatever is going on with her- & that she will recover from this fall- and be strengthened so that she won't fall again--
    hugs~

Thank you all! The surgery will be tomorrow. She's a lot calmer today, but they kept her running to x-ray and another scan today. We came home early because she was so busy.
