As a child I remember a flowering vine climbing my mother's post in the front yard. It looked exactly like a passion flower....bright vivid purple petals, yellowish hairlike interior with a pronounced button in the middle. It bloomed in the early summer and the flowers stayed abloom for days and days.

She told me that it was a clematis variety. Now many years later I've tried to find the plant or a picture of the flower on-line to no avail. I bought passion vine seeds, raised them and had great results, but the flower only stays open for one day and besides, mom's flower didn't put out any fruit.
