Is it deer resistant?

According to the Pres of the Texas Gulf Coast Fern Society "Stags" are deer resistant. And she should know. She's in major deer country with lotsa stags.

Can someone explain to me is "lemoinei" a form, a subspecies or a variety of veitchii?

Is lemoinei a valid name at that status?
