You will probably want to include some native Wood ferns:
Dixie Woodfern, Marginal Woodfern, Southern or Florida Woodfern and Intermediate or Evergreen Woodfern. Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) is native, but is found in the Northern & Western US. Other local ferns are Broad Beechfern, Sensitive Fern, Bracken Fern, Netted Chainfern, Spleenworts (Asplenium sp.), Hay-Scented Fern, Hairy Lipfern, Resurrection Fern (Epiphytic, usually on branches of Oaks or other trees with rough bark), Grape Fern & Rattlesnake Ferns.
Another SE native that does well in dry. high shade is the Bramble Fern (Hypolepis repens), sometimes mis-labeled as Marianas Maiden Fern (Macrothelypteris torresiana). It, like the New York Fern and the Japanese Beechfern (Thelypteris decursive-pinnata) can become widespread (invasive).
Non-natives I would recommend, are Autumn Fern & it's cultivar 'Brilliance', Tokyo Wood Fern, Hondo Fern (Dryopteris hondoensis, a triploid version of the Autumn Fern) and Holly Ferns.
You might also be interested in some of the Clubmosses. Many are easy to grow and require little moisture and maintenance, once established. Selaginella braunii, involvens (caulescens), uncinata, mollendorffii, stauntoniana.

Sorry! Brain drifted into neutral! Common name for Selaginella species is Spikemoss, not Clubmoss, which encompasses the Genera: Huperzia, Lycopodium, Lycopodiella,etc.

esh_ga... yep! Tons of privet and honeysuckle (and the horrible poison ivy) and still fighting it due to the neighbors and their lack of care to their woodlands. But my yard looks best!

I just bought a home and just behind the house a few feet the woods begin.

I've removed all the garbage plants, hauled in boulders, and have started planning and planting a native woodland garden. Now I discover since spring is here that I have a good stand of Poison Oak and Poison Ivy. Ouch!

Any way to wage war and win the battle?

Gloves, long pants, long sleeved shirts, spade or fork, lopppers, and concentrated round-up. Start on the perimeter and work your way in. If it can be dug up, do so; if it's too big, cut it off at the base and put some straight round up along the rim of the stump. Don't compost or burn the stuff, just shove it in a bag and put it out with the garbage. Good luck.
