plants and the capsules to get a better idea of what it

been here 8 years.. finally got a camera that resulted in the pix i posted... so i was happy .. still am ... canon A640 ....

i think i need to figure out how to use the macro ... and a tripod... but i cant figure out how to use the tripod 6 inches from the ground ...

any suggestions on how to take a picture at ground level?

I definitely understand your problem!
Fold your tripod up as far as possible and lay it on the ground on one side swinging the camera mount to the horizontal plane.
Find a clump that is higher than the tripod level.
Main thing is to make sure you at at the correct distance on shooting close ups.
On my camera there are two close up settings, 4X and 12X.
I use a piece of cardboard cut to a notch to note the
different minimum close up distance I can use. Also the camera viewer will provide a focused image if it is ok else the image in the viewer will look out of wack.
But then you have to remember that you are only focusing on part of what you can see and so some of the image will be out of focus as you take close ups.
Take a panorama of a clump .
Use your image program to edit.
