Frozen

I am just broken hearted, my biggest brug didn't fare up to well. I had asked that someone bring her into the kitchen before I left yesterday, but as ususal, it did not get done.

I had recently cut most of it back, but what was left froze.

I have the cuttings I received from Brenda in the living room in front of the window, they aren't really happy there. Little droopy and loosing leaves, but hangin on .

I think my angel will be ok, she comes from tough stock.

I just hated to see her like that this morning.

I know what you mean. I just now looked outside and ALL is frozen and dead :-(

Well, the Copper Daisy is still looking good from what I saw.

Don't worry...Next season will hold many surprises for us. The brugs are tuff!!

I am sorry for you, too. I thought I had lost my only brug for sure during the Calif. heatwave last summer, but lo and behold, it perked right up again. These guys are really tough!!

You will be amazed at how well your Brug will recover and give you many side shoots..More than likely it will recover just in time for the next cold spell :O)
BUT come Spring It will be one of the first things to peek out of a long Winters nap..âºâº

Texas:

Kylie is right, if you can bring her in, and the roots didn't freeze, she'll roar back for you. It's only the top that got frozen?

I was a little late once getting one in, and Kylie is right. Only the top gets effected.

I have always been jealous of the year round people who don't have winters like Illinois where basically, EVERYTHING, people, plants, animals, go into hibernation. . .

But then, I'm reminded when people in areas like yours have a freak winter hit, it wreaks havoc for all your tropicals.

However, I'm still jealous! Ha!

We're heading for a high of 29. Bah humbug. Winds are kicking up now too.

I hope your brug is going to be ok. If the roots didn't freeze, she should spring right back.

It should be fine & come back from the roots even if the whole top dies. I did that to my 1st Brug & it lived & I am 3 zones colder than you. If it starts to get mushy, cut it off & it will dry up. Water just enough to keep it alive. The cuttings might struggle along till spring & they will probably be fine too as long as they don't rot.

You guys are just too sweet.
It was the top that froze and Lord willing she will come back.
I have cuttings I gave my cousin just in case.
I just hate the thought of any of my plants not doing well.
Thanks everyone.
