Is this possible?

Just wondering something about my Pteris cretica in the bathroom. See since it matured it just puts out lots of weedy grass like mature foliage,yet the immature foliage is completely different and more typically fern like. Also there are spores everywhere-the plant is just a mess. Is it possible to force it to produce more immature foliage and less of the straggly stuff! It looks really good when young but as it grows it is just so untidy!

I suppose you could cut off a few new fronds as they form the crosier. It should weaken the plant to the point of returning to juvenile form. But you stand a chance of killing it all together. It's hard to de-evolve most life forms. Why not just harvest some of the spore and grow them from spore.

Thanks pat but growing the spores isn't an option,there's just not the room to end up with loads of plants with nowhere to go. I don't have a greenhouse anymore so i have no place to do it. I'll just have to hack it. If it dies it dies. One of the worst plants i've ever had,if only it could live outdoors!
