I wonder if any decent edible ferns will grow well in your climate/plant hardiness zone?

For the sake of discussion:

I don't know which fern variety is the best for flavor, but for hardiness and ease of growing I wouldn't hesitate to plant the common Ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris z3-z7). Ostrich fern fiddleheads taste good, the plants are not finicky about soil type (but prefer rich soil), and once established the colony spreads fairly quickly - an attribute which some gardeners understandably don't prefer. The crowns eventually get quite large which allows for good harvests of decent sized fiddleheads.

I have been eating and giving away Ostrich fiddleheads for years - a wonderful spring treat. I sustainably harvest approximately 10 dozen fiddleheads per year from my plants. I could harvest more but I admit I get kind of tired of eating them - the "too much of a good thing all at one time" kinda thing. Asparagus is the same way but I freeze up a bunch of that for winter eating.
