Meanwhile 3 hours later. Just started.

I think it will take more then a case of Scotch for the long haul according what they are predicting.

I got two in the ground and one transplanted last two days. 5 to go. Unreal...last year at this time I had leaves on my Acers.

Oh Dave, I'm sorry that you are getting snow, but your wintery photo of your conifer gardens is fabulous. It looks so pretty. I agree...moisture. ha ha.

I have a unique micro climate that enables all my deodaras to survive and I am definitely out of zone with this one.

In the photo..far right center, below tree, it will make a nice statement along with being a nice filler conifer for that corner. I have been looking for years for just the right cultivar. I will add a small companion to erase the starkness or the area.

Dave, you've to stake the Cedrus deodara 'Blue Snake' all the time.
This is because it will never develop a real strong upwards growing leader.

The 'Blue Snake' was found by Piet Vergeldt from The Netherlands.
He found it as a flat growing seedling selection, not as an upright grower with a weeping appaerence.
I guess for this reason it will never make a thick stem, in comparison with other weeping forms of this species like 'Pendula' and 'Beacon Hill'...

I staked it because it was B&B with no roots anchoring it to the ground.

I know what the bio is for this conifer. If indeed it needs a stake to get it up higher I will do it.

When purchased no stake was present. It stands on its own. I will see where it goes.
