Dormant Bare Root Ferns

Hi All!

I recently purchased numerous bare root ferns from a catalog. The instructions are rather vague and state that I should soak the roots in water for 24 hours if it is a "woody plant". Obviously it is not a tree but I have read that ferns are semi-woody. Should I soak them or just plant them? Help!!!! Thank you!
