I highly recommend the "Fern Grower"s Manual" by Hoshizaki(sp) and Moran. A great way to learn about ferns is to identfy they the a good reference book. It's available at Amazon.com.

Hey, I looked through my book "Non-Flowering Plants", as well as some internet sites, and I've identified a few for you (at least I got pretty close to what I think they are haha).

Do you remember if any of these ferns had furry, brown rhizome type things growing on top of the rocks/soil? Knowing this could help considerably.

No. 1 - Reminds me of Davallia (rabbit's foot fern), however these plants are found only in the East Indies, and I doubt that they have naturalized elsewhere. Did it have a furry, creeping rootstock?

No. 2 - Sword fern (Nephrolepis sp.)

No. 3 - Wart fern (Phymatodes scolopendria)
This fern is not native to Florida, however it has escaped into the wild from cultivation. This could also be Phlebodium aureum; however, this would only be the case if it had a large, furry rootstock.

No. 4 - Strap Fern (Campyloneurum sp.)
