Transplanted these ferns from a friends garden in early spring. They all took well and sprouted new nice green healthy fronds......til lately, that is. Now the new growth coming is very dark, almost black, and hard!! They are getting taller, but not changing shape or color. There are other new fronds emerging from the base which are nice and green and normal looking. Any ideas???

Also, if you could ID the type of fern it is for me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

OOOH. Small pic. First one they rejected cause it was too big!? I really don't know how to do this very well. Sorry. Hope someone can make it out.
