Also called Australian Sword Fern, and or Kimberly
Queen Fern. Extremly easy to grow. They like heat and
lots of water. I have always grown mine in pots. I water
every day really soaking them with hose. They like filtered
shade. Mine have gotten really huge in one season. I use
Miracle All Purpose fertilizer once a month.
I usually just buy new ones every year, Home Depot sells
them for 6.00 a pot. I was just thinking about bringing
mine in for the Winter,so that I could divide and start
them early next year.

I live in Central Texas, zone 8b. I have Kimberly Queen ferns that are so happy they are multiplying through runners. I have them in a shady spot with intermittent sun peeking through trees and I have had them a couple of years outside in the ground. We have had freezes down to 19 degrees briefly, and temps below freezing several times in a winter season. They are doing beautifully. I put one in a waterfall area (it gets droplets of splashed water) and that is the one that has given me several others. So many, in fact, that I now have transferred a dozen to a sunnier area close to the river we live on. They get a little freeze-burn, but they make it. The fronds on the mature ones are between 2 1/2 to 3 feet. Also, around the roots they have white balls, or globular tubers that are part of the plant. I love them and you will too! They don't need to be babied. They can even dry out a bit but don't let them sit in water. Good luck!
