Moss, Ferns & Cryptogams

Fern Question

Hello,

I want to plant some ferns underneath some fir trees (they are limbed up for light), would like something 2-4 feet tall and evergreen. Any suggestions?

So how much sun would they be getting? I like Autumn fern, Christmas fern, Male or Lady fern. The Autumn and Lady can take a little more sun, but not much.

You're in Zone 8 and are planting in ideal fern conditions. You have hundreds, possibly thousands of choices. The question is, how do you like to buy? The easiest way would be to go to your local nursery and look over their ferns for one that appeals to you. You don't say where you are in Washington but there are some VERY special fern nurseries in your state. You could visit them, or order from them by mail. But if you're fairly new to ferns, I'd guess that you will find something that you like at a local nursery or garden centre. Even big box stores might have something that will do, depending on who you like to spend your money with.
