They can be pretty much be mounted on or in anything. This site doesn't allow posting of other web sites but if you google up staghorn fern there are a couple of sites that get into mounting etc. I have a couple mounted in 8" slated teak orchid baskets. If you use a wire or similar basket fill it with an sphagnum moss secure the fern so it's hanging the right way. Hang the basket sideways. In due time you'll be pleasantly surprised. Happy growing.
