What else?...lol

I finished off the last one and now I get to start this one)

Cory, it is nice to see that your grass might not be as bad as you once thought. That would be awesome..

As agree..Please don't worry about sending a thing until all thingies are easier for you..Oh, boy, you are going to have a nice manicured lawn and walkway when all is said and done, think of that)

Maggy..I LOVE that orchid setup..Wow, Don't you wish you had huge windows and a living room like that where plants would do good as a center piece on any table and not have to be stuck on a window sill or a greenhouse?

I wish I could have place scattered about the house, but none do good unless they are near some window, usually the south facing ones...What good is it to have plants we can't show off at home in any room we want?

So I flower mine up, and then when they flower, I place them about to show off until the leaves and flowers fall off or look like garbage in about a week.l

I wanted to give a quick shout and say hello to all my friends here.

Good morning everyone, I didn't feel well yesterday. I had my friends for lunch.and by the time they left at 3 pm I was tired . I had not slept for the two previous night but last night was good to get some sleep finally. So today is sunny and cold .
Steve, I am using my iPad to take pictures. Turning it upside down will not help. The pictures are ok for iPad users but the problem is that Windows does not decode it properly thus showing it upside down. Nice tree. Looks good. Your greenhouse as well.
Mike, you sounded so happy about the sunshine. You really should live in a warm climate you love it so much. I can sense how joyful you are to see the sunshine.
It is great to hear your Mom has had some relief by being careful what she eats . I hope she continues to improve.
Did you get a chance to look at my window vent.? We are going to try and put the cover on Sat. ,weather permitting. It is really staying warm in the greenhouse, in fact I turned the heat off today as the sun is shining and it was 65 degrees in there this morning.
I would be happy to send you a clove seedling but it might be good to wait until they are a little stronger. They are still a bit delicate with tiny stems and not sure if it would survive the trip. But you can definitely have one. They grow to be a big tree and I know with your skill at growing things it will do well.
Brian, your bus stories are so funny. I really think you should do a blog.
My seafood chowder has fresh haddock, clams, scallops, lobster, potato's onions etc. I rarely make it as the seafood is very expensive .but a nice treat . We also had lobster rolls. Today will make a stew and Apple pies. You are right cooking is my first passion. I find it so relaxing and therapeutic but I also find growing the citrus trees and spice trees just as enjoyable .so challenging to grow things that are not meant for our climate. Very satisfying when one is successful.
You Kishu looks great. Mine is growing as well. It seems to be growing even more in the greenhouse. Lots of new shoots everywhere. Even though it is small it is one of my favourite trees. Lounge chair and music in the greenhouse would be a good idea. Can you imagine relaxing in there when it is toasty warm inside and snow outside?
Cory, I see you were up late again. I am thinking that is your quiet time . I am not sure why the greenhouse is leaking. It is just in the bottom corner near the floor where the wiring is but I don't think it has saying to do with the wiring.
Sorry to hear you found mealy bugs and scale on your orchids. I founds baby ants on my variegated lemon this morning. I can't seem to get rid of them. I have sprayed and sprayed . They seem to be hiding inside the blossoms. Do you think horticultural oil ,water and Rosemary essential oil will kill them,?
My kaffir lime seedling have no leaves now . I am hoping they will recover. They are several years old and we're doing well until I repotted them. They seem not to like the same conditions as my other citrus. They didn't do well in full sun and they got really wet when we had all that rain and in spite of being in 5-1-1. they didn't dry out well.
Have a nice day my friends .Maggy

Hi Maggy maybe it's some kind of a virus we have , I have been extremely tired myself . Last night I was in bed at 9.00 tonight I am going to try for 8.00 . Turkey weekend is almost here Ya Hoo . 3 days off , double Ya Hoo .Your going to have to take it out of the freezer . I have cooked 2 turkey's in the last 2 weekends and tonight's the last night of turkey leftovers didn't mine to much because i love turkey . I have a prime rib roast in the freezer I think I will cook that on Sunday . Apple pie and Stew Yummy . Maggy what a horrible day outside cold and blustery. The sun is out now but I am looking to the north and it is pitch black like hail and thunder pitch black watch it pour just as I get off the bus . Glad to here your enjoying your GH . Maybe if you silicone your roof in between the panes there might be water coming through the pane near the door and it might be coming through the corner edge were the electrical work was done . Next time it rains hard look right above were the electrical work was done . Is the spot you placed your GH level if it is not there might be some ponding going on right underneath that spot . Glad to hear your Kishu is growing . I am sure one day we will be trimming our Kishu's just to fit them in the GH . Maggy enjoy your Stew and apple pie . P's wouldn't Steve's piglet picture make a nice kitchen picture frame funny Steve . Hi Cory , Mikey and your Mom hope she is getting better and better . Hi Steve .

Hello everyone...Looks like I have been missing in action, sheesh..

Well I fell in the pond yesterday and it seemed as if the frogs and fish thought I was going to sleep in there..They got mad..The fish kept sucking me and the frogs kept jumping on my back...I was stuck and thank goodness I was able to get out! All the while I could see my cat behind the screen door meowing and meowing as if I was going to die...My poor mother thought I had lost it...I told her I wanted to move in with the fish and she left distraut!

The day featured warm sun rays and yesterday featured a tornado warning and heavy winds and hail..lol Just in time for the end of summer...It was a muggy as muggy gets.. Last night when I went to bed it was about 65 and this morming when I woke up it was 38..Strange.

Maggy, I am so sorry to hear your hips hurt..It really stinks just waking up one day and feeling pain when never once before..I hope you can stay away from the pain catagory!
That leak must be a pain too..Just strange.
I never saw a greenhouse with a vent like that.
I would cut the solar cover a slit where the slit is on your greenhouse and then about an inch up on both sides where the window lifts up to give it some space to open.
When the window closes, the cover will just fall flat again...Does that make sense?

Maggy, I'll bet you just love the warmth in there and does it feell humid too? Watch for bugs, ok...Especially scale and mealy..Keep treating a mass spraying of FE...Make sure you have the fans going too. Make sure you can easily spray down everything with a hose often..It also helps it to stay humid in there.

You are so sweet the spice tree..I would LOVE one since I can't even find one online..I googled them and found nothing! Logee's is out too..I would love a tree in which the leaves smell that good, especialy if you rub up against them. I use to have scented geraniums but do horrible with the, I had one that use to smell like coconuts! That died.

The Kishu is my favorite too..lol I have that one always in the greenhouse it a special spot. I give it room to grow too. I also have a candle stick tree, oh my goodness, when in flower, wooo!

Oh yes, I LOVE the warmth..You know me Maggy. I am a different person..Just the thought of a few days next week in the 70's has my blood running..I love it. No frost yet here than God. I don't see any coming either. It will be the lates it;s been to see any frost.

Many hugs to you from us here..Please take care of that hip!
I find that the gym helps me a lot...I wish I coukd go more often than I have been.

Cory, how have you been Cory? Has the greenhouse finally allowed you time to sit back and relax? Has the bubble wrap stayed on like you want?
Are any of your plants in a good growth spurt? I miss your flowers on your orchids!

Cory, You are not kidding about nice warm days..They can lift my plants too! How has the Orchid Society stuff been going?
I see that your sister has the same interest...You are so lucky to have that in the family..She is such a huge help thank goodness..I am glad she is there with you..
Does she have nice orchids too?

Don't worry, you will get your stamina back...Just make sure to get plenty of rest and eat plenty of fruits and vegi's)

Yup, the ghosts being Brian's underware and white socks!! Lol.. I could picture the same thing as Freddie and Jason chases Brian about the room dodging hanging things..hahah

Cory, what a PAIN mealy's are ,right? They can get into everything and it can be almost impossible to irradicate . I have seen entire collections detroyed, especially when they hide in places like roots and other than tree parts.

My problem is that I forget to hit certain plants with F>E and those are the ones that get infected...It frustrates me because I don't see them until I have put all my healthy plants next to them and then they show up..
I take no chances with plants with places the emulsion will nevr hit...I try my best though and it seems to work.

I am happy you have mostly everything done) I can't wait to get that Critine plant from you but I can wait too)

Cory, I would love to see more pics of your greenhouse, I just love it! How is the lawn looking these days and the sidewalks? Better? How cold is it there? I have been lucky to still be warm..

Have a wonderful night and much love from us here)

Brian, you and your funny stories..lolol I can only envision your face resting in someones armpits or being chased about your room from Freddie or Jason dodging undies running for your life..YOur poor fig trees and your poor face..lol

I LOVE that pic of that fig..It looks yummy buddy..Just yummy!

Oh, I hear ya about the sticky stuff on floors and walls and dirt and leaves..lololol. IT never ends...I wish I could stick all my plants in the greenhouse and porch...

Brian, if you had a rearend that looked like those piggy potatos that Steve posted and walked backwards, you might loose a few more people that way too...Too funny. Listen, all you need is Sloppy Joes..Start stocking up..
The smell of armpits is much worse on thise crowed spaces, or as your say, being stuffed like sardines..lololol

Brian my friend, you and your Kishu..I have never seen such growth on one tree so far up north..What's your secret? lol

Listen, don't forget to work out tonight. ha..You could use a six pack, right?

Have a wonderful night my good friend..I wish we could all hang out one day..Maybe?

Hugs to you pal and we chall chat soon again..Stay away from Chritine if Jason and Freddie leave you aone.lol

Steve, those potatos look like piglets buts.lololol That is the very frst thing I thought.
I love what you did with your citrus..Boy, it will have plenty of room to grow..

How in the world do you move those trees to go outsiude in such heavy containers? Yikes!

    Looking good.

Hi All, Brian, you must really love Turkey. My husband does as well. I took mine out of the freezer last night . It is 17 lbs .It will take a few days to thaw. I usually make my dressing the night before. Cooking the turkey.
The stew was good. And the Apple pie and Italian bread turned out well.
Sorry to hear your weather has been bad. We had a beautiful sunny day here and I was able to turn the heater in the greenhouse off, I am not sure where the leak is originating.. It is going to rain for 3 days starting Sun. So perhaps I will find the source and fix it. It seems in the corner where the trench was dug and it's coming up from the bottom I think? The big challenge will be putting the cover on this week- end. Will let you know how it goes.
I am happy that the Kishu is growing. Tomorrow I will water and spray the trees. You must be excited about having three days off, get a chance to relax.
Steve's picture is funny. You are right it would look great framed.
Have a great night Brian. Maggy

Working on the orchid auction stuff so MIA but I will be back. Just finished the picture and culture sheets for 91 plants. That took me a couple of days. Was so busy I neglected my plants and the trees must have gotten too dry and dropped some leaves. They were very wilted. I never saw them wilted like that before. It must have gotten really hot inside. Glad I went in the greenhouse to check on things. I hope I caught them on time. Many of my other plants got too dry too, even the ones in the basement. It wasn't that long when I last watered everything. It caught me by surprise. I spent a lot of the day watering plants. I noticed that my Vaniglia sanguigno fruit is beginning to turn yellow. I hope the drying out didn't harm them. Their nearby leaves look a little yellow too. Some of the flowers that opened in the greenhouse are producing new little fruits. The orchid bud blasting seems to be recovering though.

Mike, I just spent the past 1/2 hr writing you and then puff. It disappeared.
OMG you fell in the pond. I am glad you are o.k. I imagine the frogs were not happy about you being in their habitant. And you freaked your Mother out. You are going to hurt yourself. Your poor cat was probably thinking this was your demise.
Your weather is very strange . Sort of like ours. It is sunny and warm and then freezing cold, all in the same day.
It is strange that my hips were so painful. I have arthritis in my Rt. Knee and was supposed to have surgery this past July. I went for a few months of hydrotherapy and it was amazing. Also swimming everyday in the ocean or pool in Portugal ,plus the warm sun made a world of different. Actually at one point I couldn't walk and now I don't even notice it.
The vent in the greenhouse is funny, We are attempting to put the solar cover on tomorrow so will let you know how it goes. I will cut the place for the vent after it is in as you suggested. I understand what you mean.
Today I watered and sprayed all the trees and the humidity went from 40 % to 85% in no time. It was 70 degrees i. There this morning although my heater is set at 60. Not sure why it is so warm during the night when it was 45 degrees outside. Of course now the sun is shining.
I have a favourite spot for my Kishu as well and it is really growing since I put it in there. I haven't sprayed with FE inside yet but will do that tomorrow. I saw some bs y ants on the variegated lemon but sprayed them with horticultural oil, soap and Rosemary essential oil and haven't seen any today. I do not want An infestation of aphids .
What is a candlestick tree? Never heard of that one. I will see that you get a clove spice tree. I love my allspice ,cinnamon trees because of the great smelling foilage.
I have been buying Christmas and Easter cactus cuttings online as I want things to grow in the winter There isn't much to do for the citrus now that they are inside. I even bought a little Jade plant all the way from Israel. It was supposed to be variegated but it is just plain. It came rooted without a problem.
You do like the warmth don't you Mike. ? The winter must be difficult for you. I like the seasons. I think Feb, March are the worse months for me. I am looking forward to spring and it never seems to come .
I hope you are not suffering any ill effects from you spill in the pond. My puppy fell in last winter. He gave me a scare.
How is your Mom. Is she still talking about getting a dog?
Give her a hug from me.
Have a great week- end. Maggy

Quit on the bus today I guess theirs lots making a extra extra long weekend . Mike we've had light frosts the last couple of nights , I Love this weather in the morning it really wakes you up and I need that in the morning . Mike I will be actually glad when it gets cooler so the heater will stay on more in the GH . It gets so humid in there when the heater is not on , that I am afraid the trees will get sooty mold , the heater helps to dry the air out a bit . Did you go to see annabelle with your Buddy ? They still are calling for a cold Halloween weekend here with maybe a little snow Saturday and Sunday. When we were kids we wore snow suits under our costume's . I hope it stays nice and toasty for you I know you like that . How is your mom feeling today I hope she' s better , group hug for her . Mikey enjoy your Friday night buddy !!!. Maggy so sad your still not feeling better dam arthritis I have it to in both legs . Med's work great on mine I feel no pain at all . That's a big turkey Maggy are you planning to entertain ? The GH really does become humid after watering sometimes a little fog will form in there . Maggy when i started to write this I was I was on the bus now I have been home for a half an hour an I am still writing that's how slow my brain is working right now . Looked in the GH and all the cuttings are super green , you might end up with more than one clemenules lol . Take out tonight to tired to cook . Your Stew sounded mighty good do you cook yours in beer ? I do it makes it super tender with a nice flavor . Have a great night Maggy . Cory it sounds like you have been way to busy , I don't know how you do it . No time to be bored that's for sure . Cory what is a vaniglia fruit sounds interesting . It's amazing after a watering how fast plants come back to life , alot are a little drought tolerant .Glad to hear your weather and Mike's is still nice . We here have not seen the sun all week it's just making an appearance now .Steve nice job your trees look super healthy . Is your GH finished now ? It sounds like you came close to having frost a few nights ago . The grass was full of ice Wednesday night here , a sign of things to come . Cory and Steve have a great weekend .

Hi Cory, I spend a long time writing you this afternoon and my iPad crashed. Same when I was writing Mike.
I am sorry to hear your plants dried out abc started losing leaves. I do hope they recover. I know how easy it is to get busy and not get to them. I managed to water and spray my trees early this morning. They sure love the greenhouse. I saw ants on my variegated lemon again. I can't seem to get rid if them. I will try the FE . Maybe they are in the mix.
It seems like preparing the plants for the Orchid auction is a lot of work but I am sure it is appreciated. I am really looking forward to joining the Society here.. I think I can learn a lot.
Here is a little baby orchid I bought at the grocery store. ( hope it is not upside down) It is so tiny and cute.it looks healthy. Can I leave it in the small container. There is a little plastic cup with a hole in it inside and it seems to be in moss.
I see you were up late last night. I have slept the past two nights and for that I am happy.
You must be pleased to have your greenhouse insulated . We are going to try and put the solar cover on tomorrow.
This is our thanksgiving week- end . It is much earlier than yours. I know it is a big holiday in the US, more so than here. Unfortunately our kids can't share it with us this year. I will do the traditional Turkey with the trimmings. Apple pie, pumpkin pie.
Hope you have a nice week- end Cory and get a chance to relax. Maggy

Mike How was your scuba-diving trip. Its been a long time since I have gone diving. About 30 years. Did you see any frogs down deep.

Thanks for the compliment on my tree. It takes 2 people to move the 25+ gallon containers. The 18 gallon was easy to move. The trick is to not water for a long time with out the tree going dry. That can knock off half the weight.

Cory I enjoyed your comment that the trunk was getting thick. If you had said that Meyer lemon tree looked good, I would have to ask you what you were drinking. Thanks for looking.

The four hardy chicago figs seen below are mabout the same age. The 2 larger fig trees were put under bucket lights about 10 days ago and they have taken off. Click the link below to see the exact bucket light I used.

Brian, Happy Thanksgiving week- end. Are you visiting Montreal or your parents?
Normally we spend Thanksgiving with our kids but they are not able to be with us this year.
It is a big Turkey. I will cook a full dinner and a pie for my neighbour . He is recently single and does all our mowing and snow removal. A real nice guy . We try and give back as he refuses and compensation. He never refuses my cooking though. Too bad you are not closer. I would send you a pie.
Next week we are going to Niagara Falls for a few days . My husband will be at a conference during the day but will be nice to get away.
My greenhouse is humid as well. But it is staying in the 60's at night. Do you think the thick insulated floor makes it stay warm. I wish I could turn my heater lower than 60 . When it gets colder it will be ok. Tomorrow we are putting on the solar cover. Maybe I won't need heat at all.
Brian, I am not having arthritic pain now. It was just the night after shopping . I don't sleep well but not sure of the reason. However the last two nights have been good.
I would be very grateful to receive a clemenule . You know how badly I want one. Is there something I can send you. I have salsa and my roasted tomato sauce which I have offered you. Just let me know. I sent some to Mike.
I make my stew with red wine. It is a real nice recipe and I do it in a slow oven for 3-4 hrs. Very tender and tasty. Enjoy your night my friend. Maggy

Hi Maggy glad to hear you are feeling better and that you have been able to sleep. A nice trip to Niagara falls is just what the doctor ordered , very happy for you . I think it was Monday night that you and Mikey couldn't sleep well guess what I think I slept less than 1 hr that night . I just could not sleep and I could feel my heart racing , horrible night . Maggy that's to bad that your kids can't make it for thanksgiving , everyone today is just so busy or just to tired . I myself would prefer a nice quite weekend this weekend but I think I will have my parents over for a prime rib dinner . Maggy I am such a home body I love staying home and relaxing on the weekends , I just want to cook nice meals and watch movies . When we were younger we did a lot of traveling , I think that' s out of our system now , we just like the quite time's now and it is very nice . You are such a generous person Maggy thank you for your very generous offer how about maybe Christmas . Maggy I am waiting for the cuttings to show roots coming out the bottom of the pots . They are very green but not sure if they have rooted or have large enough roots to transport . I am keeping my fingers crossed on seeing roots coming out the bottom of the pots soon. It's hard to believe thanksgiving is already here , that means Christmas is right around the corner . Glad to hear your trees and Kishu have really started to grow , they are going to love the GH as much as you . Maggy when your heater is on Eco does it come on when the temperature goes below 60 and does it shut off when the temperature hits 60 ?Have a great night Maggy

Update. This is the progress we have so far. Ran in to a few obstacles so far.
It is too short on the sides because of the platform that the greenhouse sits on. . But plenty long though so have lots to cut off.so probable can add a piecse.
The frame where the door fits juts out and made a hole in the cover and it makes it short on that side. But over all I think it is going to do a great job. It is easier than putting bubble wrap I think. Next year will be easier.
Thanks Mike for all the instruction
Brian it is too bad you could do it on yours.
It is a beautiful day here. I hope you all are having a great day. Maggy

Hi Maggy . Job well done looks great . It looks like it's easy enough . I might have to try it next year although I don't know how I would get it around the plum tree . Also not sure if it would keep my GH warm enough . It gets much colder here then Boston or Windsor . I will be very interested in how yours make's out , you will have to keep me posted . Maggy I am having my family over tomorrow for thanksgiving supper so tomorrow I'm sure will be very busy . Cooking another turkey Maggy lol , 3 weekends in a row . My parents love turkey so we decided not to cook prime rib roast , anyways we had rib steaks tonight . Maggy have yourself a wonderful Thanksgiving . P's we were in costco today and bought a backup heater . I will look at it more on Monday . It's was around $45.00 here's a pic of it .

Hi Brian, good to hear from you.Putting the cover on was not that hard. It kept getting stuck on the roof corners but then Rick held it up with a broom handle and I was able to pull it over. Once we cut off the extra it will be o.k.
And easier next year. Tomorrow we will put on bungee cords . I will need to tape a piece to the side that is short ( with waterproof tape) .
You know Brian I am a real homebody as well. I love staying home. I enjoy when we entertain but don't do it so much any more. We don't go out that much but watch movies at home, cook special meals etc. When we are in Portugal we eat out once a day because it is quiet and the food is so good
You have had a lot of turkey lately. It is nice that you will be having your parents for dinner. I made the dressing today and a couple of pies.
I have two small turkeys in the freezer,3 prime ribs and 12 lobster tails . All were on sale.
That is a nice backup heater Brian. I got a little one for $25 at Home Hardware. I still don't have something if the power goes out
Brian speaking of Mike falling in the pond I just fell downstairs. I was carrying a plate of food.I tripped on my slipper and went flying. Didn't break anything but going to be sore tomorrow.. Scared my husband.
We will all be busy tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones . Enjoy you day my friend. Maggy

OMG I hope your OK Maggy . I have done that many time with slippers going down to the basement on carpeted stairs . Glad your OK . You know at our age we have to start going step by step and taking it really slow . It's hard to do sometimes because we are just so busy . Your Thanksgiving supper sounds delicious . I am going to make some apple crisp with the apples from my tree tomorrow . I wish you and your husband a great Thanksgiving . Going to give Sugar a bath now he has to look good for and Nanny and Grandpa .

Hello Maggy and Brian..Happy Thanksgiving to you both...!

Cory and Steve, hope you are having a beautiful morning..It's cold here. 35 degrees but still no frost thank goodness! I left all my plants outside because I had no time to bring them in..I saw a little frost on the roofs just as Steve has pointed out, but nothing on the ground..We are at that time of year where it practically takes all morning for the sun to make a dent in the cold..I hate it. It use to be up at 6 just two weeks ago and it would warm up by nine, but not now.
We are suppose to be warm after this for days, even high humidity and 80's by Wed. Strange.

I will be back later when I have time to write at work today. I was just stopping by to say hello and that I read everything.

Maggy, WAY TO GO on that solar cover. I am sure you will have plenty left to cover ponds and even drape it over your greenhouse again. I love it. The slit you make for your vent will help you line it up year after year after that!

Cory! Hello..I think that Maggy and Brian are haviung a Hoilday today and our will be next month..I can't believe how fast the time is going by...Does it get worse when your in your 40's? lol
How's the orchids coming along? I know you have been VERY busy with the orchid show...Do you ever feel like not having a resposibility with it and just go to one to enjoy it?
I suppose if you didn't have a part, someone else would have to do all that. Maybe you enjoy helping out? What kind of joy do you get out it? Do you get to deal directly with the public and make them smile?
I can tell you one thing..If I were knowledgable like you about orchids, it would thrill me to do some sort of teaching aspect of orchids..

How's the bubble wrap holding up? How's teh warmth in there? Do you finally have everything inside? Do you leave any orchids out to enjoy the very cold nights until the subfreezing weather moves in?

I see I wrote you last, so I will leave here to say I hope you are doing well and I look forwarding to hearing from you again! By the way, thank you for the info you e-mailed me, I really appreciate it)

Oh yeah, we had a VERY light frost this a.m but nothing to worry about. I took the hose with the much warmer water coming out and watered everything today, teh plants on the roof that almost froze, the plants in the ground that looked cold, and the plants in the pots.

I also had a great time at the concert last night! I jump into the marsh pit and jumped up and down like a kid and did not get sore..lol, It helped that I worked out yesterday for three hours and di a whole lot of quats..

I got home at 12:30 last night and had to get up at 5:a.m. this morning and I am sure I will feel it today in about an hour..My eyes already feel heavy..lol I was going to paint today after I got out of work but decided against it. I think when I get home today after leaving here at 4, I will just sit back and do a Brian thing, watch a movie, probably a spooky one..
My mom is better thank God, and she watched quite a weird one yesterday..Something about a women who was upset with these yound guys in a praking lot, the followed her to kill her for something she saw, and she ended up being chased all over the words by the hoodlums in a scary way until she killed them all eventually...

I hope your weather is as nice as mine coming up...Can you believe it's only going to get warmer from here? Mid sixties today and tomorrow, then 70's and humid and then mid sisties again! No killing frost so thus far ALL my trees are still outside..lol It's the latest I have ever not have to bring them in..They are thriving outside!

I know eventually they will have to come to their final resting place until next year..So this is a real bleeing my friend!

Maggy, OH yeah, I am fine! If I had fallen in in the middles of winter, that would of been a different story..I ts hard to each the filter when the stones are blocking you and the pond is about 3 feet deep..I am going to have to start thinking of covering the pond with some sort of mesh or screen until the leaves fall now. Then I have to cover it iup for the winter.
The frogs, my pals, I will never know where they go or what they do as it gets colder..I do know this..ok.lolollol

I saw one of my frogs crawling out of the cold water this morning slithering his way across the warm rocks like a snakes..It looked cold and black.lol I think he was barely moving as they all do like a blob of jelly until their blood warms again..He was sitting on a warm rock all morning in the sun...I sprayed the whole pond down with the warm water from the hose and out two more came to get showered .llol
I am not sure if they go to the bottom of the pond and bury themselves, or crawl and and dig holes and hide under rocks, leaves and dirt? Not sure. But, just incase, I never let my ponds freeze and I put pile of mulch in places so they have a place to burrow into...I have never seen one hybernating, never.

How's that hip today? How's the food, that turkey!? I hope you are having a nice relaxing day. Does your Hoilday ever fall during a week day so you can have an extra day off? Ours are all falling of Thursday this year which gives us FRiday off too. I love it. I hate it when the New Yare or Christmas falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

Maggy, that is one long solar cover! Wow, was it easy to cut to size? Did you make the slit for the vent? Did you bungee cord it yet?
Hold on, awesome touch down!! Ok, back to talking again.
Have you noticed a difference in the warmth yet?
You will on cold night for sure..
By the way, your space heater is not going to shut off if the temp inside wants to fall below 60, but it will stay off if the temp inside reaches 60 or better. Therefor, you will be saving a whole lot of money when the sun shines in your greenhouse, and will use more heat after sundown or especially during the coldest months.
On extremely colder nights, you will see your temp drop below 60, may even hold into the 50's. I would just leave it on 60, the lowest setting for asl long as it takes until spring. You will never have to push it beyond that, unless you want very warm temps during the night.
It's a good stable temp for everything from orchids to citrus trees..

Maggy, my goodness...How in the world did you fall like that? That scares me, taking stairs with hands full..You have to be careful and hold a rail or the wall for balance Maggy.....Sometimes it scares me to see my mother walking the stairs, I tell her to stay off them while she is home alone. Are you ok today or paying the price? I hope ok.

Please let me see the finished produc t and what you have done?? I would love to see it!

Ok, I have a girl yelling at us here at my desk...I have to go but I will be back to say hello to Brian..)

Hi Mike, We are cooking our Thanksgiving dinner today. The apple pies are made, the turkey is in the oven.
We finished putting the bungee cords on the solar cover just now but have to make a few adjustments before we make the cuts for the vents. The cover was not wide enough on the far side so I will likely add a piece.as there is lots left over .Also my husband put hooks on the bottom of the base to attach the bungee's.After we got the cover on it was 70 degrees in there . We had frost last night on the roof tops but not in the ground. We got the cover on just in time. We are expecting rain for the next three days but warmer weather. Just like you will be having. I should have left my trees outside but glad they are in now.
It sounds like you had a good time last night . Good for you. I can imagine you are tired now. Relaxing tonight is a good idea.
I am very happy your Mom is feeling better and watching weird movies. Sounds awfully scary.
Hope you are having a good day. Maggy

Brian, We were writing at the same time. I often wonder where your frogs go. I think they must hibernate. They seem happy in your environment for sure.I have a mess cover for the pond and it works really well..catches all the leaves .Do you leave the water running on all winter or do you turn off the pump? .
Mike I am very happy with the solar cover. It sounds like putting up the bubble wrap is a lot harder and takes more time. We didn't do it perfectly but it is o.k. I think . I have noticed it is warmer in there with the cover on. Also I am surprised of how much light there is in there. The cover seems to not block much of the sun.Do you think I can tape a piece of cover on the side that is too short? I will need to find some waterproof tape. The cover was 16 feet x 32 feet.
My husband is watching the football. I am relaxing while the turkey is cooking It is nice to get everything started early. Do you and your Mom make a turkey for your Thanksgiving?
The Eco setting on the heater seems to be working. I haven't figured out how I will water them when it gets colder. I may be able to run a hose from the laundry tub .The outside hose will be off and the water too cold. Mike the trees are getting blossoms and fruit in there. I have stopped fertilizing and I am hoping they will stop growing.
I was not watching what I was doing and my slipper came loose and I tripped . It happened fast. I hurt my bad knee that has been so good for the past few months . I was supposed to have a knee replacement but cancelled it as my knee was so much better after physio ( hydrotherapy) . Now I think I did some damage. It could be just muscle damage but time will tell.
Well going to check the turkey. Hugs to your Mom. Have a great evening. Maggy

Hello Mikey . Thanksgiving for whom? I have been up since 7.30 am cooking . Made the stuffing 2 apple crisp and now I have a homemade bread going in the bread machine . I would say it's only thanksgiving for the guests , they don't have to cook . That's all right my parents have done it enough times . Going to have a small nap now so I can look half alive when my guests come . Mikey actually Thanksgiving is on Monday the same day as your Columbus Day . We like to do it on Sunday because we don't have to go to work tomorrow and we can sleep in all morning tomorrow . Glad to hear your OK after falling in the pond . If I had fallen in and my frogs were jumping all over my back in disgust I would have given them an invitation for supper that is frog legs lol. Actually no I wouldn't have done that I can't even hurt a fly lol. Your Mom sounds fun , so she likes horror movies cool . I can just see her and I battling Freddy and Jason . PBS last night was showing old old Horror movies pretty funny to watch . Glad to hear your Mom is feeling a lot better ,now if you could take her out for a ride in your convertible with the top off and enjoy the fall colors but only on a warm day . We went down to 30 degrees last night everything was white looked like winter . This week coming it is supposed to be in the 70's most of the week ,crazy I wish it would make up its mind . Thanks for wishing us a Happy Thanksgiving your a very good friend. Enjoy your Columbus Day , hope you have it off . Take care my friend . Maggy hope your turkey smells as good as mine . Hope you are feeling OK after that tumble . I almost fell down the back patio stairs this morning , they were all iced up and of course I was wearing flip flops , not to bright . Beautiful day here very sunny and mild . Going now to have a little nap . Happy Thanksgiving Maggy enjoy .

Maggy, my goodness!!!! I love it! Looks like you gift wrapped it and now you are going to give the gift to someone..lol I love it! It's perfect to me, although I am looking at the pic upside down..I can't turn it up side up because I am on my work computer..My Ipad would let me see it better..

I would just use plain ole extra stonge clear or Gorilla duck tape..Trust me, it's water proof! I use it on all my water stuff, even the pond and nothing takes it off, not even water...
Take a piece from your left overs and cut a slice from the left over that will reach from one end of that side to the other and just duck tape it to the one on your greenhouse..It will hold, use the clear one for austetci purposes..
I love it love it..You will notice it more warm and that it stays that way longer..It temp won't bottom out quickly as soon as the sun stops doing it's job and it will hold heat a lot longer! I feel like my greenhouse is naked and exposed with it..Like having a pair of pants on without underware..lolol
Now, you will be amzed at how much less your space heater will have to work and how stable the temp stays in there!
Please, tell me by the a.m if the temp is much warmer in there than the outside temp by morning..
It was 34 outsie this a.m and yet 61 in there which tells me that in one space heater, it is now 27 degrees warmer than it would of been without it..Just a measly 12 degrees warmer if I had not put the cover on..It would of taken me TWO space heaters to keep up that temp with cold temps like that outside.

And tell your husband he is a good man for doing that for you! I love that he is helping you. What a nice guy to help make you happy))

Wow you're still cooking Maggy! Wow..Wish I could come for the meal..It sounds soooo good, and Brian too!

The pump works all winter..I divert it to pump upwards to keep teh water aggitated towards the surface so as not to freeze..So far so good. I love the Mesh idea! I ahev to get one in there asap.

Where do frogs go, that is what I'd like to know? I know they come back every year, so they must hide somewhere close..I should google it.

I hope it is nothing seriosu Maggy..My goodness..YOu of all people need your legs! You do more running around than my cat does and more hopping around than my frogs do..Porbably more swimming around than my fish do..lol
Ok, I owe Brian a response..I got so excited about your gerenhouse, I lost trac of time...I have to close shop in a half hour..Yahoo. I am starving..All this food talk is killing me)

Brian, my friend Brian!! guess what I did this a.m, just as soon as teh sun was shing on my trees and it warmed up..Relishing among my trees outside all morning until I had to leave for work..It was so nice out..It warmed up fast..
To meet teh suns ability to make my trees continue to grow and keep up with teh day warmth of the sun, I watered all my plants with the hose, warmer water warms the roots..I think they liked it..Have you ever taken a nice warm shower when you are very cold..I feels great..I think the roots to our plants love it too..lol

Brian, who in teh world taught you too cook? What nationality are you? Do you come from a family of big dinners like the Italians? My goodness, btween all three of you, Maggy. Cory and yYou, you all have me beat..I don't know how to cook such elegant meals..I have never baked a pie or cake..lol
I am good at cooking frogs, I mean fish..ha

My mom in a covertable..That is all she like to do..lol She LOVES it..But she is afraid to go to far from home for now because of the stomach thing, but getting much better..Thank you for caring and asking about her..

She is always telling me that she wished she could meet you all to give you all a hug..Now she always asks about you all..She loves Cory's orchids! Now because her Cory, she is very much interested in mine...

I am gald you can get soem shut eye, something I may need by 8 or 9 tonight! I just need a few days off to myself so I can recoup..Lol..funny how you thought frog legs when I thought the very same thing before I saw what you wrote..oll..Does that makes sense?lol

My MOm told me to aks you if your cloths are hanging on your fig tree yet? She says you could use that tree as a Christmas Tree and forget all the money spent on another..hahahah Goodness, she just came up with that off the cuff this morning..Must of caught a funny bomne with her from last week..Too funny...
The too of you watching Freddie and Jason would be too much..I can pictuer that..ol

Well , I am so happy to see you guys have Monday off...Good ! What's the point of a Hoilday if you can't sleep or take a day off during the week? That's great friend..

Hugs to you all and I wish you a wonderful day again, all of my wonderful friends here!!

Good morning my friends. Happy Thanksgiving to you Brian. Our turkey turned out soooooo delicious. We bought our turkey in the US and I have to say it was the best I ever made. So tender and juicy. I wish you were all closer so I could have shared with you. Even the puppies had a little dish of Thanksgiving dinner. They were ecstatic .you would have thought they were in Heaven. Gave us lots of kisses after.they are snuggled with me on the couch now.
Mike, I am very excited about the solar cover. It does look like a wrapped present. Can you believe it was 62 degrees in there this morning. What a difference. May have to order the clear gorilla tape as I have only seen black here. I can't thank you enough for your encouraging me to get it and for your instructions. I think it was a very good idea. And you were right, not that hard to put on once you get the hang of it . I still have to cut the vent areas .eventually I will invest in an automatic vent opener. I have spent too much money this year .My husband ,even though not handy has been fantastic in helping me. He put hooks in the foundation and helped me so much. He is a very nice guy and very kind and helpful. I am very fortunate that we found each other late in life. Even though he doesn't have the same passion for gardening he is supportive and doesn't complain about all my trees and accumulating plants . Next week - end I am going to the Orchid Society meeting. You know what that means. Yup! More plants in the future.
You Mom is so funny. Thinking about Brian's fig tree and his clothes hanging on it. It is quite the mental picture? Lol! I guess he left an impression with her. I am so glad to hear she is feeling better. We all wish her the best of health. I love her sense of humour. We all wish we could meet her too. I am glad to hear she is interested in your orchids.
Hi Steve, how are you doing? Are your trees in your new greenhouse?
Cory thinking of you . I have sent you an email. Love the orchid information. I have been picking out my favourites. Will make a list for the orchid show.
Have a great day my friends. Maggy

Good morning everyone . Happy Thanksgiving day Maggy . Glad to hear your turkey was delicious . Was it a Virginia turkey ? We used to shop in Massena NY and around Thanksgiving we would always pick up a turkey . Most of the time they were Virginia turkey's and you know you just can't beat them for taste and they were always super moist . Maggy another gorgeous day here we are going to go for a spin in the mountain's to see the leaves , I am sure it is going to be beautiful . Maggy I think I might try the pool cover next year , where did you buy yours ? Is it bright in there with it on ? Mikey I never noticed the cloud picture , beautiful and scary . If I saw something like that approaching it would be off to the basement for me . It's funny I am always checking in here and I never saw the picture until today and I didn't see Maggy's mini orchard which is very beautiful . Mike my fig tree would always look like a Halloween tree with my underwear on it . I don't know if your Mom ever made a Christmas tree from a huge white birch branch , they are so beautiful . You can see all the ornaments and with the icicles hanging on it and the lights stunning . We did that a few years ago . Taking the SUV for a drive it has a huge panoramic sun roof almost like a convertible going to check out the leaves now . My friends have a great afternoon . Cory miss your beautiful pictures . Hi Steve .

Happy Thanksgiving day to you. Today is a relaxation day. No cooking .just hanging out . It is 67 degrees here
We had a Michigan turkey . Never heard of a Virginia turkey but have had Virginia ham. Delicious.
It is a warm 67 degrees here but raining off and on. How lucky you are to be able to take a drive in the mountains I bet sugar loves going with you. . I bet the trees are so beautiful. every thing is flat in Windsor and I miss the fall foilage of Nova Scotia. There was a nice picture in the Globe and mail today of the autumn trees in the Gatineaus .
My husband Rick wants to know what part of Ottawa you live in . He was in Ottawa for 6 years. He really liked it. I have never been there actually.
Brian you will be happy with the solar cover I think. I really love it. It is quite easy to get in on with two people. I had to buy a 16 ft x32 ft as they didn't have a 24 ft. It is easy to cut the rest off with scissors We put hooks in the bottom of the base to attach the bunge cords . It is very light inside. Next time I am in there I will take a picture. It was a bit short on one side ( about 4-5 in) but will add a piece with clear gorilla tape . It was 65 degrees in there at 3am when I got up to let the dog out . Here is the site where I got mine
    http://www.poolsuppliescanada.ca
It was not too expensive about $110 but with tax and shipping it cost $192. They are made in Burlington Ont. However, I ordered it on Sun .afternoon on line and it was delivered by UPS on Tue. I got the16 X 32 ft Rectangle Clear Premium Solar Cover 12 mil
Oh Brian you should have seen the dogs having Thanksgiving dinner. They went crazy. We never give them human food but we decided to give them a little treat of turkey and the trimmings .
Now do you know that you have Mike's mother fantasizing about you clothes it the fig tree. Gives a new meaning to "partridge in a pear tree " I will never think of that song the same way.
Glad you liked my mini orchid. My husband brought me this one on Sat. (Apologize for those who see it upside down.)
I love the idea of the white birch branch . I don't have any birch trees but my neighbour does. I wonder if he would mind if I cut it down .
    Have a great day. Maggy

Hi Maggy your orchid is so beautiful love the colors . Maggy I actually live in Gatineau my backyard faces downtown Ottawa . I did live 90 percent of my life in Ottawa . We used to live in the west end . We moved 10 yrs ago to Gatineau and love it . It was a nice drive in the mountains and then the clouds came out from nowhere . You should have seen all the people 1000's and they all had the same idea . It was a crawl just getting to the top . It is the oldest mountain chain in the world and what a view . Glad your relaxing today . We did not have to cook today to , lots of leftovers it sure is nice right Maggy . Sugar loved the little hikes we took , there were lots of dog's . We always feed sugar human food , he mostly likes boiled chicken . Looks like rain soon so I guess it's movie time . Oh the turkeys we bought were grown in Virginia and we're they good best ever . Speaking of turkey I hope you enjoy your leftovers your Michigan leftovers lol. Have a great day. I hope the picture is not upside down .

Brian and Maggy, I can't figure what picture in the most prettiest???

    Maggy's beautiful orchids or Brian's mountain scene..Amazing!!

Maggy. I wish somehow your pics would post upside up! lol I can't appreciate them as much, but I sure love them anyways!
Brian, that pic is sooooo awesome..I wish I could be there!

I wanted to take my mother for a ride, but she started feeling sick again yesterday..I am so tired of her not able to eat just about anything..It's getting to the point where she is afraid to eat now. She had a grilled cheese sandwich hours before she got very sick in which I thought she was going to have to go back to the hospital, but I don't think she can handle cheese since it's fat and her gallbladder is not there. I wonder if this is normal? Who knows(

Maggy and Brian, I am so happy to see you guys are relaxing and cooking these fine meals! You are right, it is better to eat Sunday and do nothing but relax and smell the flowers today...I can't wait for mine to come..I love the Hoilday season...lol

Maggy, you see..Once you get a greenhouse put up and realize how nice it is in there and how well plants do, you are motivateded to buy everything and anything that loooks good.lol LIke that ONE orchids just won't cut it..I am positive you will be growing many more before the end of winter.lol All I make room for is the FRAGRANT ones, that is it. If it's not fragrant, no room. I love FRAGRANT!! MY Oncidium is still in bloom and still smells like chocolate!

Maggy. I LOVE how that solar looks and I knew you would be sooooo happy about it..Every time your temps in there go above 65, it shuts your space heater off and conserves electricity big time! And now with that cover, it's hardly any work to do at ll with one heater when it would normally take two or three to get those temps in very cold temps.I am so happy it worked out for you!

Brian, now it's your turn...Once you realize how easy it is and how much heat is saved and how much cheaper your electrical bill costs, you may have a day where you choose between that and your plum tree(. But then maybe you could still make it work?

Maggy, your husband is a good man, even if he's not as excited about your plants as you are and that is where come in..Isn't that awesome to have each other when no one else gives a hoot? lol

Brian, I never heard of Virginia Turkey...It sounds like the best..I would love to try one. I have never cooked a turkey before..Feel free Maggy or Brian to share a recipe..Please, teach me so I can make one next month)

Brian, what great idea..From a birch branch? I love it. It would probably look amazing!
It sounds so much prettier than a green evergreen or a fig tree with dangling articles..lol

NOW, BRIAN AND MAGGY, I have some advice..When temps rise into the 60's or higher, try to open the doors to your greenhouses to let fresh air in and pick these days to wash off your trees...Use the hose and even FE..It will prevents infestations in the future...Soak your greenhouse and leaves the doors open until you know temps drop lower than the 60's. I also delays algea build up.

Maggy. if I could only see the faces on your dogs.It must of been the cutest thing! Then they sat with you. Nothing like having affectionate animals that bring joy.
My cat BO, eats garlic, broccoli and onions if I let him..Lol..He loves foods most cats wouldn't think to touch..He even like Lucky Charms..lol
Whipped cram in a can? Forget that! If he was lost all I would have to do is make the sound of whipped cream coming out and he would be with me in a flash..
When I am having some, he will let me do just about anything to him, even tourture him until he gets some.

Brian, it's funny!! Those same clouds somehow found their way here.lolol They look exactly the same and the sky was blue, then like this within an hour and it still is all day.lolI I guess it must be the prelude to summer again!

Oh my God!!! I just recieved a call from my bank and my REFINANCE for my house and to pay off my credit cards went through and at rate of 4.4 percent!! Right now I am paying 4.9 and I owe 20 thousand in credit card debt! I will have more cash flow now and my mortgage payments will only be 20 dollars higher than what they are now! I was approved and I close on October 17..I will be so happy not being so strapped for cash anymore!

Ok , guys, if I missed anything I am sorry. I LOVE that pic Brian and I LOVE the orchid Maggy. My phal is starting to rebloom again!

P.s..Maggy..Do you know how to properly water that cute little orchid? Please explain, and if you need a little guidance, I will tell you. I don't want to see you fail with this one)

Mikey congratulations buddy . Good news on the refinancing that's a big worry off your mind I'm sure . Everyone today is strapped for cash and when we get a break it sure feels nice . Mike what a beautiful day here until we decided to go for a drive of course . We left here the sun was shining we get to the mountains which is only 20 minutes away and all of a sudden clouds come out of no where . I was really looking forward on taking some nice pics oh well next year . Mike can I borrow your cat for the bus ride home lol, garlic , onions , broccoli that would do me in . Whipped cream hilarious . I just love the personalities of our pets and each pet is so different . Our dog he understands everything we say to each other I guess soon he's going to start speaking English . Mike the birch Christmas trees are beautiful except you don't get that nice pine Christmas scent . It doesn't have to be birch you can use any kind of branch and spray paint it white . Sorry to hear your mom's stomach is upset again . Can she eat a nice bowl of homemade chicken soup . I know when my stomach is upset I usually reach for the soup and plain toast with nothing on it . I hope she feels better tomorrow , lots of hugs . Mike I might try the pool cover next year I will try to figure something out good idea my friend anything that makes life easier is a good thing . Thank you Maggy for giving all the info on where to get the cover . All this turkey eating sure makes one tired . Aiming to go to bed for 9.00 up early tomorrow . Mikey and mom and Maggy have a good night .

    Hi everyone

I have enjoyed hearing about all the solar cover success. I hear some of you have eaten to much to early, then I realized that some of you are across the boarder where good thing come early and we in the USA have to wait for the elephants and asses to stop fighting before anything, to small to mater, happens.

Mike I hope your mom does better with time. Brian and Maggy, Let your digestion go smoothly.

Cory, Come back come back where ever you are.

As for me I have completed the east wall's glazing. I have to move. 3 fig tree in 30 gallon containers 1 Meyer lemon, and one sweetlee tangerine. The I can build the west wall. It will be the easiest of the wall's to build. There will be no door going into the greenhouse. I will have to enter through the window in my dining room and climb down a ladder to the GH ground level.

Hello everyone. My phone picked up a virus and I couldn't use the internet for several days so could not get on this site. I am far behind in the conversation. I was on the phone a good part of the day with Verizon trying to get rid of the virus and now I am trying to restore all my settings and favorite sites. This is the first moment I have had to check this site and I think it is working ok. I have posted a picture of my Vaniglia sanguigno (vanilla blood orange) that suddenly is beginning to ripen. It is supposed to be an acid-less orange and lycopene, not anthrocyanin gives it its pink flesh color like a Cara Cara navel. From what I read some like it a lot, others hate it. I will let you know. I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving and Columbus Days. When I get more time I will read what everyone has been saying. The orchid auction is tomorrow so I may be mia for a while again. We are all set; at least I hope so. I haven't had access to email either. It is being downloaded at this minute.

Hi everyone. I am sorry I lost everything I wrote yesterday . I am having problems with my iPad. First Brian what a gorgeous picture. It takes my breath away. It reminds me a lot of Nova Scotia in the autuum and makes me a little nostalgic . So beautiful. We do not get the colours here in Windsor. And no mountains. Everything is flat.
So you lived in Quebec and work in Ontario. Neat. My husband says the Gatineau region is beautiful. Hi Ex brother in law Paul had a cottage in the Gatineau hills . Unfortunately he passed away recently and two of his male friends bought it. I guess it has beautiful views of a lake.
We have lots of leftovers still. I won't have to cook this week. We are going to Nisgara Falls Thru. Morning. The dogs will go to the dog sitter tomorrow. They love her so much
Glad to hear sugar enjoyed the outing. They love getting outside didn't they.
It is extremely windy and right now 72 degrees here. So warm and the rain is starting. I had a dr's appointment this morning and I was outside in short sleeves.
Take care my friend. Thanks for sharing the lovely picture.Maggy

Hello everyone . Beautiful day here to it is 78 degrees with a humid ex of 86 and it really does feel like 86 . I can imagine how warm the GH is now . I couldn't leave the door open because it was raining when we left this morning . Maggy you sound a little bit like you need a get away good for you . I have never been to Niagara Falls it looks beautiful and alot of fun. The colors are beautiful this year probably do to all the frost we've been getting here. The Gatineau's are beautiful with lots of lakes . Our drive yesterday took us close to Meech Lake . You should have seen the cars yesterday they were all Ontario plates . I've visited Nova Scotia and your right the scenery is very similar and very similar to the Laurentian mountains . Maggy you have to watch the undo button on the I-Pad . Mikey you sound very happy today you really do love the heat . Mikey who's Dr. Dread and Pipsy love it . Probably be for your time did you ever see the Flip Wilson show he used to do a fantastic Geraldine very funny . So is this the last kick at the can for summer ? How is your Mom feeling today , I hope we'll . Cory I can almost taste those oranges sounds like an interesting variety . Cory its amazing how attached we've become to the Internet . I love to watch older movies from the 70's and 80's and no one had computers and cellphones just how did we manage . I am glad I lived during these times . So are you enjoying this last taste of summer ? Steve glad to hear your almost finished the GH . You are going to have to get someone to take a picture of you going through your dining room window to get to the GH . Take care buddy . Everybody have a great night .

Hi Mike, it seemed like it has been a weird day. First I forgot that I had a Dr's appointment and had to rush to get there. Then I went to use my bank card,it wouldn't work so had to go to bank and get a replacement. Then I got a call that a very close friend of ours fell and broke his femur and is in hospital .
Anyway going to try to write again after losing everything yesterday.
Mike I am very pleased about the solar cover. It is great. Unfortunately it is 70 degrees in there but due to the wind and rain I have not opened the door. Hopefully it will get cooler. It is 72 outside at the moment
I am so sorry your Mom is still having difficulty. Fried food will definitely not be good and fatty foods can be difficult to digest . After having the gallbladder removed the common bile duct will take over the job the gallbladder used to do, secreting digestive enzymes etc. Does she see a dietition who can help her with food choices? It may take awhile for the body to adjust. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago but still cannot eat fried food. I do hope she feels better Please tell be I am thinking of her.
You are right about wanting flowers and plants to grow once the trees are inside for the winter. I am in love with the mini orchids . I like scented but have to be careful as some cause my asthma to act up. As for watering the mini's some say an ice cube once a week . But I have read the cold might not be best. Warm water might work but they should dry out once between watering. What is the correct way to water them? I hate to think what I might buy at the two orchid shows that are coming here .i had better ask for advise first
I am so happy you were able to get your refinancing, and at a good rate. Good for you Mike. I think everyone struggles now. The markets are all over the place. My husband is a financial advisor and he says it is unpredictable these days. There is so much going on in the world that effects the market that we cannot control. Scary.
It sounds like we are all getting warm weather . A nice surprise after the cold spell we had.
I apologize for my pictures being upside down. I am still trying to fix the problem. I have been researching to find out what to do. Next time I will try turning my iPad around. The problem is they are all right side up on my end.
It was so nice to see you so happy about the warm weather. It bring you so much joy.
    Take care my friend. Maggy

Hope to see you back here soon. And see more of your pictures . We have missed you.
Steve sounds like your greenhouse is getting near completion.yes the solar cover is on and a great success. Very pleased with it.Thanks for all the help from Mike.
Our Thanksgiving is much earlier than yours and I am afraid we ate way too much turkey. Leftovers seem to last forever. Hope you are having a nice day. Maggy

Cory Good to have you and your phone back. Your phone can be replaced, but you can't. Mike I hope surgery goes well for your mom. Good to hear that your trees and frogs are doing well. Are your trees still on the roof.

Maggy Have a good trip to Viagara Falls. Sounds like a good rest trip. I'll see what I can do to get the river turned on at full power.

Brian It will be a while before I am sealed out and halve to use the window, but I did get all the 30 gallon containers in with the help of my friend and 2 hours of huffing and puffing. The opossums have about 10 more figs coming. The green ones are OK if you eat the center flesh only.
