Crazy Rootstock propagation question

Hello,

I have a question that is actually opposite of what most of us try to accomplish. I have just learned that I received a citrus tree grafted on a type of rootstock that I would like to propagate on its own. Is there a way to get the rootstock to sprout new growth so I can try to root it? We all usually cut these things off, but this is an unusual situation.

I had thought about just cutting the graft off, but I want that to grow and fruit also. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Darren
