Yes I still see it from time to time. However I think it has been surpassed by the microwave oven. Put leaves between two sheets of paper towels and turn your microwave on for 30 to 90 sec. depending on the wettness of the leaf. This method also preserves the color.

I just dried some beautifully colored leaves I had found between paper towels. They are all just brown now. I think I will give the microwave a try.

Just a thought. Would the wax from the waxed paper serve as a better preservative than not using it? I wonder if it would work using the waxed paper on the leaves in the microwave.... hmmm, too many thoughts at once. :)

That's exactly what it does! I like the idea of the microwave,and did try it this weekend. But I didn't "cook" the leaves long enough and when I checked on them today, they had curled. Ugh! I think I am going to give the old wax paper a go.

The frustration with the waxed paper is that modern wax paper doesn't have as much free wax as the old stuff did. I finally dripped some melted paraffin (just a couple of drops) on the paper and it worked.:) -Sandy
