I used to drain pool water (when cleaning the filter) onto the landscaping. Never hurt it.

If it's a choice between using pool water and having plants die because of drought, use the water.

If local conservation regulations prohibit watering plants, but say filling pools is OK, FILL THE POOL and siphon 9it off for the important plants. Let the lawns and annuals die, but save the tres, shrubs and perennials.

We've always drained onto grass when cleaning filter too, no effect from any chems. It's not concentrated enough in our home pool, but a public pool would be more of a concern. Just let the chems. in your pool dissapate for a week, b/4 watering. We haven't put chems in since b/4 Labor day; pool is covered but drained yet, for pump removal. This is my watering source now.

This is an old thread so I'll bring it to the top to double check. I would like to attach a hose somehow to my kids' 16 ft. above ground pool and use the water on my shrub perennial border. I've been conservative with the chemicals and algea is starting to grow on the bottom. The pH is too high and I added pH minus which didn't do much and the test strips also show that the chlorine is too low. Should I try to get the pH down before I use the water on my plants? Thanks
