OT - Weeding Tools - Two I purchased

Since I like to get down in the garden and hand weed, I decided to try out 2 new tools here.

One is a Radius Weeder(green in photo)purchased online and the other is a weeder I picked up at the local Tractor Supply store.

Both are ergonomic which really helps on the hands after a few hours of digging out weeds and especially those long rooted ones. As you can see from the dirt on the tools, I've been giving them a good workout.

Just thought to pass along my experience and I have no investment in the products other than my $'s spent on buying them :-).

Nothing like a good weeder. I recommend the Cobra, bought on line. I panic if it is mislaid. That is the tool I used to dig out all of the grass and weeds to make all of the beeds in my yard. Yes, it is hard work, but if you don't get the roots, you will be doing it over and over again. I like the looks of both of them. thanks, Julia.

I have something very similiar to the one on top for digging out dandelions.

I guess it is catching. I ordered two long blade trowels just now. Don't think I would have thought about it if it wasn't for your post about your garden tools.

Gardening tools, gadgets & gizmos can certainly add to the pleasures of, and eliminate - or at least diminish the hassles of - gardening. Last season I was introduced to one of the better tools I've ever had in my hands ... works for weeding, transplanting, cutting & separating divisions, even (some) pruning - a simple but VERY sturdy hand tool.

Lee Valley Garden Tools (USA & Canada) sells their 'Hori-Hori' Trowel (Knife?-Saw?) complete with belt-sheath ... In less than one season since trying it out it has become my 'Go-To-Tool' for most garden tasks ... Check it out in store or on line.

I've never seen anything like your green-handled one. I have the traditional dandelion tool like the top one and use it all the time. I tend to do a lot of hand weeding because I just plain like to meander around in the yard, and I don't like to use chemicals, and also I'm out there with my dog who seems to enjoy being out in the yard a lot more when I'm there with him.

wildbirds: I have something similar that I purchased a couple of years ago from Lee Valley. The problem is the handle is not ergonomic. After an hour of digging with it, my hands were so cramped (old age I guess)that I had to stop for the day.

This week I want to try to get out all the Queen Anne's Lace (long tap root)that crops up every year plus some other nasty weeds that take over in a matter of weeks.
Just as an FYI, the edges along the narrow edges are sharp on the Radius Weeder.

The radius weeder looks interesting. I've used the other one a lot, but the last year or so I tend to steal a steak knife from my kitchen. They slice down through the soil nicely, although I do try to decapitate myself on occasion.
