The first one you made for your anniversary was a lot of work, but you put a lot of time into this one also. I hope you don't mind us asking...but how much did you charge your boss to make it for his wife? (Same rate of pay per hour in the evening as you work for him during the day?)

Beautiful job!! I have a scroll saw also but never do the fine work that you are doing with it. I do simple things like cutting circles and shapes to paint up later for crafts.

I will probably sell the clock for about 250-300 dollars. I don't get back what I spend in time on a particular piece. If I charged that I would never sell anything. I classify it as a hobby that I enjoy doing and try to make enough money to help pay for tools and supplies. Also I have only been scroll sawing for about 2 years so nobody knows that I do this work. By charging less, I sell a few things and this way people see what I have made. Any way thanks for the comments.

Wow!! Thank you Ang. Now you can actually see the detail of the clock. I thought I had lots of light when I took the pictures as it was beside a west window and I left the lights on. But the wood is very dark and does not seem to show very well. I have to find a way to take the pictures so that the detail will show up as I am definately not a photographer. Maybe I need that ACDSee program, but then I have to learn how to operate it which could be a problem. Thanks again.

You should be extremely proud of the work you did. You did an awesome job on that clock. I would think $250-300 is to low of an asking price. $500 wouldn't be unreasonable.

I think many of us that have ever sold any handicrafts or artworks are in agreement that we do it for the love of it. It is certainly not lucrative enough to make a living based on the hourly wage. I recently sold 3 - 5X7 and 1 - 8X10 scratch drawings for a total of $500, but once I deducted the supplies, I definitely was on a starving artist's hourly wages. But there is such a sense of accomplishment in producing something beautiful with your own hands and imagination.

The sad thing is that, if someone was to try to buy a clock like this one, handcrafted in Germany or Switzerland, the price would probably be considerably higher.
