The engineer (my DH) and the engineers-to-be (both sons) in my family have heard so many engineer jokes and this one too that they all cleared the room as soon as I started to read this to them.

I have two brothers who are engineers. Have you ever had a weiner roast with engineers? Many years ago when we were all still young and fresh out of university, my brothers and their engineering friends used to go to Salmon Arm BC for the May long weekend. We went with them one year, and talk about a party! The only problem was the weiner roast. They couldn't just use weiner sticks and eat. Oh no. First they had to figure out how to cook many weiners a a time, which meant designing a spit system. Then they had to make special stirrers for the beans, so you could put the cans in the coals and still stir them. They they had to figure out how to get hot cans out of the fire.... I think we ate at 10:00 that night. With engineers, nothing is ever simple!

Connie OMG that is sooooo funny that you said that. My ex-FIL was an engineer (also my boss) and we were camping once and had a weiner roast. I was sitting there roasting my wiener, and I could see it was really bothering him. He made some comment that if I aimed the top part of the wiener closest to me at a particular overhanging coal, it would cook it best without burning the end. I freaked out and informed him that he could tell me what to do at work but for @%&*%# sakes don't micromanage my weiner!! LOL it was actually really funny. He was one of my favourite engineers but darn it they were all trying to my personality type.

I have isolated five basic engineer personality traits. Any or all do not necessarily apply. Trying not to encroach on bigotry here!

- poor or stunted social skills
- hyperanalytical
- no sense of humor
- completely literal
- cautious and conservative

I don't know why I have had so many engineers in my life over the years. You would think they would avoid me!!

Yes, engineers are analytical and mathematical. Only a yes or a no is sufficient.

My DH does not read comics or fiction books for that matter. There is no reason to read a fiction book...it is not true is his viewpoint.

But, looking at my engineering DH from a different viewpoint...when he makes a decision it is usually well thought out and the right one to make. He thinks clearer and remembers so much more than I do. If I want some little detail remembered...I just tell him and let him know that I will forget this so...please remember it for me and he does.
