Wow that's a day shorter than me in the fishbowl even!! Good for you! Isn't showing a house awful? Now for the move... LOL. Just kidding. Since you're building you will have more than two days to move like I did - it seriously almost killed me. I lost 7 lbs.

Two days to move Gil? Ack! Can't imagine - really. We now have a leisurely 2+ months to get it together. We were able to do quite a bit of organizing & packing beforehand, rented a storage container to move a lot of our infrequently used things into. That was a big help. And of course Freecycle was helpful too!

Still no firm possession date but it looks like about Christmas time. We are past the inital inspection stage (wiring, HVAC, etc.) so now drywall is next, primer scheduled for first week in Nov. Things are moving fast now!

Yes Sharon, RUN to the store and get a Magic Eraser. They really do work well, especially for marks on paint.

Congratulations! Only 2 days is incredible. I'd hate to have to live that way for months on end, and I have friends who've gone thru that too. Not fun trying to keep a house immaculately clean with 3 small kids running around.

Re: the magic eraser. A while ago (after I discovered these magic things) I was painting my bathroom and decided to scribble on the walls with jiffy black markers to see how well they worked. Guess what, there was no sign of the marker left. I then took it to my daughters bedroom and proceeded to take paint off the trim that had been left there about 4 years prior. It left the original finish on the trim intact. No wonder they call them magic.

I guess the only word of caution with Magic Erasers, you might want to wear rubber gloves, apparently they contain formaldehyde (yikes). They really do work, but only you can decide if the outcome is worth the risk.

There's no formaldehyde in Magic Eraser. Or so their website says. Probably one of those consumer panic blitzes that comes from who knows where.

But it's gotta be a good idea to wear rubber gloves when using any cleaning product - some of them eat your skin off!

How'd I miss this? Congrats on the sale, GC. 2 days - lucky you. I had to put up with the fish bowl for 18 very long days. I had my "white tornado" 10 minute clean up routine down pat by the end of it - including polishing all of my sinks and taps. I hated it.

That's when I discovered the Magic Erasers, too. Phenomenal product and I really like them on my new walls, too. And my shower walls and my sinks and . . . well, they're just a great product.

Home inspector & the buyer come through today then we can return to our slovenly ways. :)

Slovenly ways - tell me about it. When we sold our house (that had no dishwasher), I told our agent (who had the sense of humor of a stump) that we were not doing dishes until we moved a month later. We would move them dirty. Of course I was joking but he looked at me like I was disgusting. Did I mention I hated our agent?

I'm also a huge fan of the magic eraser...did you know that if you go onto the Procter and Gamble website you can get a free one as a 'sample' (only it's full sized instead of the dinky little samples you get of most things??) I didn't want to bother buying one in case they weren't as good as they said...they sent me one while we were still at our old house, and another one when we moved here. They work great!! A cleaning 'must have' imho...that and washable crayons!!

LOL on your agent!! Don't you just love people who don't get jokes...I kind of wish we were on the list of people moving...I like our house, but the town is trying to rezone the field accross from us into "heavy industrial"...yeah...one of the main reasons we bought the place was because it was on the edge of town and we could watch the sunsets and have less traffic :-p If they push it through, I'll likely try to convince DH that northern SK is the way to go. HELLOOOO FARM!! Guess we'll see...if it happens I'll have to get tips from all you pros ;-)

Ahhh, what's you're name . . . oh, Brenda . . yeah, that's right. At least I'm not alone . . . giggle. Poor Brenda. We'll all get it right eventually. Not sure why it is suddenly a problem. Must be the chill in our brains these days. : ) Maybe I can attribute it to the painkillers I'm taking.

I totally hear ya about hating to have showings all the time. DH keeps talking about wanting to sell, etc, and all I can think is "YIKES, that means showings...." Anyways, no plans yet.

Definately those Magic Erasers are awesome. Try markers on my wooden table? (yeah, thanks kids! LOL) thankfully it was a well varnished table to start with but yeah it got things pretty impressively cleaned up.

Never tried the Magic Eraser. But I have seen so many positive reviews with it.
