I've already had this as an e-mail. It is very funny. In truth what gets them off the phone really fast is to tell them "No thanks I'm not interested. Please take me off your phoning list." I've found that they are gone within 15 seconds and apologizing for bothering me.

We don't get that many calls, we have call display and I don't answer any calls if they don't show their name.

I had to phone these guys a few years ago.

Thank goodness I was at my GrannyÂs house when this jerk phoned. He claimed to be an employee from ReaderÂs Digest and that Granny had just won $40,000.00 USA, but in order for him to send the cheque to her, she would have to send him $4,000.00 first to cover the taxes and custom duties.

I could see that my Granny was so excited and that she was having a hard time hearing the instructions over the phone, so therefore I took over the conversation. I introduced myself, as the granddaughter of Mrs. _____ and that I would take the instructions because she was having a hard time hearing you. Well, within seconds, he hung up on me. CLICK!

Right away, I knew it was a scam so I phoned ReaderÂs Digest in the USA and they told me that any prizes are only done by registered mail, never by phone and then they gave me this Phone Buster number to report to.

IÂm sure if I was not there at that particular time, my Granny would of sent off a cheque to this jerk. She was so disappointed that it was a scam. At first she was mad at me because I interrupted the call, but later did realize that it was indeed a scam.

Yikes Sharon you hear about people doing that to the elderly but what a shock to catch someone trying it with your own Granny! Lucky you caught them!

Oooh since I moved and got a new phone number, it's been nonstop telemarketers for "Mr. or Mrs. Duncan". I guess they don't retire phone numbers for very long here, that must be who had it last. Must think up cruel joke...
