These were taken Oct 1, this frost was very "tall". not just a thin skim over stuff. Too bad the car is silver, it didn't show up very well.

This past sunday morning we woke up to hoarfrost and it really was quite pretty. Of course I snapped a few pics before it melted.

Echos, thanks for including your 'heavy frost' photos, we here in southern Alberta rarely (never?) get to see the effects of freezing rain. Come to think of it, we rarely get any kind of INTERESTING frost here, ours is usually the fine, gotta scrape the crap off the windshield in the morning frost. LOL

Winter can be so magical looking. I wouldn't want to give it up so that I could grow zone 8 plants......just wish it were a couple of months shorter though. :)

Very nice! Those rocks look like they are decorated with lace....mother nature always amazes me. The second one is very nice....an abstract almost with subtle colors.
