Let's just list the trades on this thread. I've got to take inventory of what I have to trade!

I have the following plants available for trade:

Trees/ Shrubs:

Forsythia - 3 - 4 mature shrubs, 5' tall

Korean Barberry (Berberis koreana) - 4' tall, racemes of fragrant yellow flowers in spring, bright red racemes of berries in fall, quite drought tolerant

Maidenhair Tree (Gingko biloba) - ancient "fossil tree" to 50' tall, unique leaf shape, brilliant yellow fall colour, drought and pollution tolerant, full sun best for fall colour, nuts (female only) highly prized in Asian cooking, also being used in some Alzheimer's research re. memory improvement, but encased in incredibly smelly arils - this is a 3.5' tall seedling, gender unknown.
(Gender is usually apparent by about 10 years of age, this plant is already at least 6 or 7 years old, so you probably wouldn't have to wait a really long time before you found out whether it was female or male.)

Perennials:

'Amethyst' Ornamental Sage - Salvia nemerosa 'Amethyst'- to 36" in bloom, long spires of long-lasting, pinkish purple flowers in early summer, some rebloom if deadheaded, full sun, incredibly drought tolerant, carefree perennial - 6 -7 mature plants

Perennial Aster (cultivar unknown) - purple blooms in fall, about 36" tall, full sun, average moisture - mature plant

Astilbe - both pink and white bloomers, colours of individual plants unknown except at blooming time, cultivars unknown, needs lots of moisture, part shade

Blanket Flower (Gaillardia aristata) - native wildflower, yellow/dark red daisy-like flowers over long period in summer, full sun, very drought tolerant - 4 - 5 plants

Bear's Foot Hellebore (Helleborus foetidus) - dark green finely cut palmate foliage, evergreen, about 18" tall, clusters of small pale green flowers in very early spring, tolerates shade, drought, but best not exposed to too much winter wind - 1 mature plant, numerous seedlings

Dwarf Hosta, cultivar unknown, yellow leaves, about 6" tall, lavender flowers - about 6-7 plants

'Moonshine' Yarrow (Achillea millefolium 'Moonshine' - grey dissected basal foliage, long lasting corymbs of bright yellow flowers, very drought tolerant, full sun - 10 blooming size plants

Peony, pink double, cultivar unknown

Siebold's Hosta (Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans') - large, blue-leaved species, parent of many mammoth blue-leaved cultivars, white flowers, excellent slug resistance, drought tolerant - 3 - 4 mature plants

Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) - Carolingian native wildflower, abundant bright yellow poppy-like blooms in spring, woodlander but will take a lot of sun, doesn't go dormant over summer if given enough water, about 30 - 45 cm tall - seedlings available

Please see my member page for the sorts of plants I'm interested in - one thing I really need is lots of ferns (not ostrich fern or sensitive fern though), trilliums, and woodland flowers.

It seems that Sunday, September 16 is a day that works for most of us. Start time 11 am - 33 Upper Avenue, London. This is in the Cherryhill subdivision just west of downtown. The easiest way to get there is to turn directly off Riverside Drive onto Upper Avenue, which is a few blocks west of Woodward Ave,just beside Mount Pleasant Cemetary's eastern boundary, on the north side.

is the 16 of sept a final date - I just found out that my child is getting baptised that day -I really don't want to miss this event - I mean the trade.lol

What other date would work for everyone? The previous and following weekends aren't good for me but Sunday September 30 would be fine on my end. If that's okay with the people who are coming, please post a message or email me with a confirmation for the 30th (or a vote against the 30th, as the case may be!)

Or another possibility would be Saturday September 14, if September 30 seems on the late side.

Saturday the 15 is good for me Barb - My wife always makes these damn plans even if I have already made them in advance. Heaven for bid the kid grows up to be a buddhist.

I would love to join in but turns out now that it is
saturday, I might not be able to come. Maybe I could do some pre-trading and arrange to have my plants at the exchange and pick up my exchanges on Sunday?.......or maybe even ahead of time?? If that is okay, then I will get to work and get some more things ready. As of right now I have a globe thistle, a pot of woolly thyme, peach leafed bellflowers (both white and mauve but not sure of which until they are in flower), perennial allysum(not sure if it is gold basket), several small rose of sharon and one pot of pink lily of the valley, if anyone is interested.

I have a non hardy passiflora x belotti to give away I have no space for it. I also have New guinea Impatience (1)white and (2)mauve all 3 are large - They are in a planter if you take one you take them all. I have a dwarf alberta spruce and a potted up spike (dracena). I also have deep purple and pink petunias that you can over winter in a basement .

nyssaman, petunias can be overwintered?? I would be very happy to know more about this as I have been looking at my big pot of beautiful double petunias and feeling sad that they will soon be over and done in a short while.
Have you done it successfully? ( and how did you do it, please)

greylady - cut them down to a third then just stick them in the basement near a window on the south or east side where they will get some light and be a little cool - don't water much but don't let them dry out either - in spring cut right back to the fresh green growth - lightly fertilize put in bright window - gradually increase water and fert - then slowly condition it for outside - you can do the same with geraniums

I'm going to add a large tropical red hibiscus to my trade list, as I must reluctantly concede I don't have enough sun to bloom it well. It's a fair size though, and quite healthy.

Adding to my trade list:

Bad news - they just informed us at work today that there would be mandatory overtime all next week, including Saturday! So we have to reschedule again... I'm proposing the same day but later in the evening (maybe around 6:30 or 7:00?) to give me time to get back from work. Anyone who planned on attending please let me know if this is acceptable - if it doesn't work well for most of us, then we'll have to find another weekend for the exchange.
