I have Seabuckthorn and I thought I'd give you some first-hand details about this shrub/tree-- you might want to change your mind about introducing it to your property.
It has a very very aggressive root system. Suckers worse than Sumac. The suckering roots travel extremely far AND the plant has deep anchor roots as well. It will start suckering as very young plant-- two or three years. Certainly not one for the border. I am in the process of removing it-- I have a very big seed-grown plant and four smaller ones from transplants. I expect it'll take a few years of pulling and repeated cutting before the big one gives up.
I have not noticed the birds eating the berries, thankfully. Bird-spread seed could unleash this thug on the valley. BTW, you need a male and female to get berries. My seed-grown plant began producing berries in its third year.
