Coleus

I have never had my coleus grow like this before. I always planted some every year but it usually stayed small. This year it really grew and is very nice. Of course it has some damage from the hail storms, but still isn't to bad.

Here are some pics of some of my coleus. Join in and post pics of your coleus as well. :-)

Those are just beautiful! I really enjoy the variations in coleus. What mix did you plant? I don't like the mix I grew this year. It was a rainbow mix from Lindenberg's. I didn't get very many interesting ones out of it.
If I had to pick a favorite of your pics it would be the 2nd one, but I really like them all.

Ohhh this is the first year that I bought coleus... I bought a hanging basket with a huge orange one in the center..

And 2-6 packs of mixed colors...these are the most vibrant...these are in the garden

These are in planters along my deck...they are smaller for some reason....

Hunner, your coleus is very pretty! I also have an orangy one....hmmm will have to find it....can't remember where I planted it now. There is also a more varigated one....for some reason I missed taking a pic of it as well.

north53, These are from McKenzie seeds...propably bought at superstore or Walmart. Coleus..New Brilliant Mixture. I'll certainly be planting these again next year.

If you want to have beautiful colorful large Coleus, you need to purchase the Sun Coleus series. Last year they were huge--at least 2 feet tall, large colorful leaves, and oh, so interesting. They can tolerate sun, and also do well in partial shade.I have several different colors this year, and am always looking for the new varieties each spring. Marg.

Oooh they are so nice, all of them! I really like the different shaped leaves on some of those. The coleus I started indoors (with poor germination) this spring are just fugly! :0( I got one nice one that looks like Hunner's second last one, but the rest were poo brown. Maybe they were supposed to be orange... but Yuk!

Wonderful colours on all of those! I've got a couple different kinds of coleus, but they're getting so beat up by the wind that they look awful. Hopefully there'll be enough time before September for them to get looking good again :(

    Great coleus Sierra and hunnerbun!

I bought a package of "Rainbow Mix" coleus seeds this winter and this is the result:

Depending on how big these grow they may get planted in the garden yet or maybe stay in that container for the summer and take them inside again for the winter.

I've got a bunch more that just need to get planted out yet (which will get done after weeding today! LOL).

I will definitely be looking for that Mckenzie seeds 'New Brilliant Mixture'.
I was in Wpg this spring and looked for coleus seed, but couldn't find any. I was only in Canadian Tire and Rona though. In the past I've seeded a mix from T & M which was very good also.

OK I guess this is sort of a confession....
We were packing the trailer tonight for our holidays and well...I couldn't resist...that basket...the one I posted the pic of the orange coleus...well I packed it in the bathtub of the trailer...
Hubby has no idea yet that I did it....he's gonna freak when he sees it n the tub...LOL

Oh well, I was worried because I have a neighbor watering things for me and I just didn't want it to die, I love it so much. The funny thing is, I have a 6' shepherds hook hanger in the trailer to hang the coleman lantern off...UM...right....coleman lantern.
Anyway....I'll check in in a couple of weeks...hope to do some shopping in Winnipeg and Brandon....Plant shopping of course!

hunner I don't think I could get away with that! I have therefore moved everything outside for the summer in the hopes it will rain to supplement the watering! I was just looking at some of my babies LOL-- hmm maybe I can pack them above the bed LOL!!! But i planted all my coleus darn it

Ang, that is about the size that mine usually get, well until this year.

Hunner, that is hilarious! Have a fun and safe trip! Don't buy toooo many plants. LOL!
