I'm not certain till I see it bloom, but it may be Helenium hoopesii, although H. hoopesii is not a bulb, its a rhizome.

I was just out weeding and thought, hmmmm, could her unknown plant be Liatris spicata, now that's a bulb.

Sharon, I googled and I think it might be Helenium. I didn't know for sure if it was a bulb or what, I dug up some rooty structure and put it back without cleaning it off so as not to damage it.

I also have Liatris spicata from the seeds you gave me, I think it's a little different.
